  • Should have got this over the Nokia 5.3 i ordered two months ago (got cancelled had to reorder) and still not here. should arrive about two months later.

nicer screen, more memory, higher res camera, though at least the Nokia has a faster CPU/GPU and is the slightest bit bigger.

Had a Nokia 5.1 plus previously, Android One was great, but myself and a lot of other buyers had a lot of trouble with the charging port failing and Nokia's after sales support was awful. Never again for Nokia. The kids have had two Samsung Galaxy a20's for a year now and they are going strong. Samsung seems to know how to make a quality phone.

The Samsung AMOLED screen is a thing of beauty at this price and the battery on the a20 is holding up very well.

  • this was $179 on amazon last year?

    • +1

Yes, that was a great buy.

At this price, I'm expecting an A31. Bought one from the good guys a few months back to replace my A30 from Amazon last year. Perfect back up phone.

That was a Price Error and not a fair comparison.

I was lucky enough to get in early and got one honoured, but don't think too many people did

( maybe dozens but not hundreds Australia wide and not in W.A. as they fixed it before they opened been three hours behind E.S.T.).

Was on sale @ ebay if you had ebay Plus for $299 and a good deal at that.

      • +1

Wow, didn't know it was a price error, lucky I got one even 3 hrs after it was posted.

        • Price went back up to $449 after 2 3/4 hrs from time of post, so you must have picked it up 3hrs after it was posted

most likely. Many people raported they had their oreders cancelled and not honoured. We were part of the lucky ones.

  • In before oppo A72 blah blah blah

IMO this is a terrible deal. A31 was $299 on eBay birthday sale and took weeks to sell out, with a bigger screen, better build, much much faster SoC and double RAM/storage. For $70 that's a lot of advantage over this.

The SoC in A30 is so slow on the FHD screen it's almost a crime. The P65 on the other hand is significantly newer/faster. It's actually faster than Exynos 9611 in terms of CPU.

    • The market is very compressed at the low end, you get a lot of bang for buck. An a31 @ $299 is presenting great value. I think an a30 @ $229 still compares pretty favorably with other phones at this price point, not a terrible deal. Not a great one. At least it gets a local bricks & mortar store to deal with if a warranty claim is needed.

    • I guess for people looking at phones around the $200 mark, jumping up to $300 is a big jump in costs.

      • I thought the recent Huawei Y9 amazon deal was better…

        • But play store problems n other Google apps
