Amazon Cashback Declined

I've been looking at both my shop back account and my cash rewards account and all of my Amazon purchases during Prime day have been declined. Has this happened to anyone else?

All were paid with my American Express card, no gift card.

Are the items purchased part of the eligible categories? Most of the common categories - Electronic, toys, tools, Games, beauty, pantry etc all has 0% Cashback.

Also 'Subscribe & Save' will void cashback.

    What items did you buy?

    What browser?
    Did you disable adblock?

Generally wouldn't track if it's ad blocking so wouldn't be a declined cashback tracking status

ShopBack can be scabby. I had a few large transactions with them not being tracked or denied.

We switched from Cashrewards to Shopback because Cashrewards stopped tracking big-ticket items.

        Ditto.

        • It looks like the fans are coming out to play.

      • I actually did the opposite if I had to make a high value purchase

Fortunately sharing your personal details was approved :)

Your title is misleading without telling us what you bought. Most likely the items were 0% cashback which is why they were declined.

If the items are 0% cashback, shouldn't it be approved but just pay out $0?

I had an order that was 0% with Cashrewards and it showed as declined.

If an item is ineligible for cashback, won't it make more sense to decline it?

On CR the description on the "Declined" icon says "This transaction has been declined as the cashback terms were not met for the purchase/promotion". It makes sense to me - "this transaction does not qualify for cashback, so it is declined" rather than "this transaction does not qualify for cashback, but we will approve it and award you $0".

  • I think shopback is a scam, I asked them to close my account today. Again my purchase was rejected. I made an expensive purchase from eBay during the promo that came to save their business to due to the apparent 'data breach'. My purchase was rejected after I claimed they'd missed it as they said I may have used honey or had an adblocker running. Total BS as I used my phone which has none of these on it. They should be banned from OzB.

    • Oh, ShopBack supports mobile browsers? CashRewards specifically says only desktop browsers are supported, and specifically excludes the mobile site or eBay app.

      • Yes I believe so at least, I think I would have double checked before purchase.

      • ShopBack works if you use their app and then link to the shopping site.

        • ShopBack works if you use their app and then link to the shopping site.

Does it open the eBay app or the eBay mobile website? Does it work through both?

          • @eug: It will open the shop app if it's installed.

            • @whooah1979: Can ShopBack track purchases made through the eBay app? I wonder if Where's_That_Cake went through the app or a mobile browser through the ShopBack app.

              • @eug: I used the shopback app and then the eBay app. I didn't see anything saying this was wrong on their info and their app automatically opened it. This isn't the first time shopback have stiffed customers for high ticket items. It's how they keep their costs down, if they haven't scammed you yet then they'll get you sooner or later. I won't be using them again.

                • @[Deactivated]: I don't see anything about it not working through the app either. It does seem more like a poorly-written website or app rather than them scamming you - keep in mind that if your purchase doesn't track, they don't get any money either so it's in their best interests for your purchase to track.
(I doubt they're actually taking your cashback and keeping it, as it's also not in their best interests to make customers not return)

                • @[Deactivated]: when I click through eBay in the shopback app, it takes me to the eBay webpage inside the app. you need to make your purchase on there and not on the eBay app. This is most likely the reason

  • tracked and declined too got 2 of: StrangeLove Double Ginger Beer Lo-Cal Soda, Pack of 4 x 300ml
Sold by: Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd .paid with amex /. not sure why ? it was under beer cat.

  • I've emailed cash rewards regarding this as I don't remember them showing 0% eligibility for the most popular categories on Prime Day (Home / Household, Electronics, Beauty / Health etc).

I've asked for some sort of confirmation from cash rewards that the eligibility criteria was actually 0% on the 2 days of Prime Sales. If anyone has this confirmation on hand, please shoot it across via here & i'll be greatly appreciative :)

      • You're too kind TA! Appreciate it mate.

And is there anyway to check what categories are attached to what items (a clear definition etc)?

        Thanks again mate
