Seems good … Is there any chance of xps 13 coming with ryzen 7 ?

  • not that we know sorry..

seems to be plagued with issues unfortunately

most of these issue have been ironed out, hence we took awhile to list these into the market.

    • It's almost always driver issues with Dell laptops, they never seem to get it right out of the box. I just picked up a G7 RTX2070 for $2K and it's an amazing laptop, but the amount of crap and bloatware (and literal ads) that they preinstall is just mind-boggling and takes hours to get rid of.

If only it had a better screen. 120Hz 250Nit VA is pretty sad compared to 144Hz 300nit IPS panels that usally come with G-Series laptops

we have requested this for future product, not something we can adjust right now sorry

    • I second that. 120hz panel is only 250nit with poor colour reproduction 45% NTSC

  • Whoops - misread the price wrong! Regardless - how does extended Dell warranty work on eBay?

    • send our ebay team a message, they will create a custom listing for you :)

I wish you listed the configuration with 144hz panel

at least it offers 300nit brightness and 72% NTSC color space coverage

    • i wish i could :(

Intel has paid the Dell Product managers with lavish rebates to screw up the AMD modes :(, a 4900H with a 250 nit 45% NTSC rubbish panel. Such a sad state of affairs to be able to get even a half decent 4800H/4900H laptop

The G5 with Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU have the same screen. Looks like Dell trying to cut costs across entire range

    • +1

can assure you that is not the case.. :(

  • Got the G7 17" RTX 2070 with 144Hz screen. Great laptop!
Pity this screen is not as good.

Wouldn't buy a G5 se again. Maybe when they release v2 with thermal and screen improvements then I'll be interested.

Plus this is also the worse 120hz panel compared to 144hz that's been previously offered.

It's in a semi workable state thermal wise thanks to the effort of one Redditor –

Though the screen design issue will require either repalcement of the LCD over time or taking it apart and reseating it to reduce flex/warping/yellowing

we have fixed most of these issues already, both post were quite old. this is the 1st time ryzen 9 got listed, it has never been sold as 144hz before.

      • No you haven't don't tell porkies. If you had of people wouldn't still be trying to work around your poorly designed laptop.

Heck if you had I would buy one again.

The screen issue will always occur unless the design of it has changed in the way it's mounted. This post only lists a workaround.

The smartshift issue and as a result thermal issues will also continue to occur unless smartshift is fundamentally changed in a possible bios revision. The post only lists a workaround.

If you can't keep the 4800h under control thermally and smartshift isn't designed well then what hope does the 4900 have?

Sure this particular variant (ryzen 9) has never had a 144hz panel but the model in general has and it seems silly to offer a better CPU but a significant downgrade on the screen.

Not a deal has been cheaper at around 1500 before.

not the Ryzen 9, you were referring to the Ryzen 7

  • Would prefer to grab a ROG G14 for better looking
