  • For the cave men.

This phone has only got one band 850MHz & no 4G.
Nobody can find an unlock for it & doesn't work on any Telstra MVNO's without unlocking.
There is no micro sd slot and it only holds 40MB of music.

Might be good for a portable FM radio though.

The Telstra Lite 2 4g is ½ price at Woolies $24.

    • Do you know if this is dual sim

      • I’m picking one up tomorrow. I’ll report back,

      • +1

It won't be. I don't know of any prepaid phones that are dual sim.

It wouldn't make sense for network providers to sell subsidised network locked dual sim phones.

  • Was at BP OTR for ever

    • The phone won't last that long.

    • mid 2024 so you'd still get 3.5 years out of this phone.

      • There’s already areas that are 4g only, travelled around Qld the last few weeks and got about 6 towns that you get a text from Telstra saying “4g only area, if your phone doesn’t have VoLTE(calls over 4g) then you won’t be able to make or receive calls.”
None of our 4g phones have VoLTE so no calls for us.
I assume over time more and more areas will have no 3G.

tossing up between this or an iphone 12 pro?

    • +17

Definitely this, as it comes with a charger.

      • Bought an iPhone 12 Pro today, had to +1 this comment

      • +1

found myself a charger- off to buy the pro!

        • Thats the proper way to buy an iPhone 12. First find a charger, and only then buy the iPhone 😀

      I reckon 170 of these

  • Is it possible to use Bluetooth from this phone to use it as a kind of wifi hotspot?

    • 3g… a crappy speed hotspot

      • Good enough, might use it in Pakistan to evade their custom duty on phones

Edit: shit there's none in Warrawong.
Don't suppose there's any deals for free shipping? :/

  • Whats the best way to unlock a Telstra cheapo phone, without paying more than what you did for the phone?

    • +4

Keep it for 2 years then unlock for free!

      • Makes sense. Gonna buy 100 then sell them unlocked on ebay in 2 years for a handsome profit.

    • Comment above says there is no unlock available for this phone.

    Burner phone for drug dealers?

    • The most likely user group for these candy bar phones.

    • No such thing as burner phones in Australia, all services need some ID to activate.
