Hi guys, first post here, so please be kind! :D

I was looking to buy a new phone and decided on this, this looks like it's the cheapest price around, really similar to other offers available at present, but seems a no brainer to me considering amazon service and fast delivery!

Uk version so a power adapter would be necessary

pihole to block xiaomi domains via dns.
Xiaomi tools to disable stock xiaomi apps.

If you don't think Google, Samsung et al are doing the exact same thing you're kidding yourself.

        • Wow, didn't know about XiaomiTool, looks promising! Will try it out with my Redmi Note 9 Pro.

        • -1

Chinese designed smart phones come with purpose designed loopholes to stream data and audio independent of an OS. The same can be said when exploiting the stock OS locally or via network. These are abnormal features to mutually comply with their government.

“ Suryaproc proxies hardware interrupt to main processor in a manner to stream memory in a semaphore-like construct.”

DNS blocking is a cat and mouse game.

The question is what is done with your blueprints in China and what that means for you and others.

      • +13

Phew, at least Samsung, Apple and Sony definitely are not data-mining !

        • +1

          Never said they didn't.

One is associated with a totalitarian government with an amazing track record of citizenship control.

          • @compound: Jamaica?

            • +3

@ChadHominem: Jamaica is making phones and tacking international users? Amazing how far they've come since Bob…

Firstly everyone is kidding themselves if they think any Chinese company isn't gathering data when they can… No matter what the equipment is

Secondly everyone is kidding themselves if they think other manufacturers aren't doing the same when they can!

Thirdly unless you are some kind of super important guy that works for either government then who gives a crap which phone you use … Just don't get blackmailed if u intend to use one of these as ur mistresses contact phone…

    • +9

Buy Xiaomi phone, install a custom ROM, mostly from Indian developers …. WAIT … are they stealing data as well?🤔

        • +3

Every phone had Chinese hardware. How do we stay safe?

            • +1

@jackinyourbox: You mean the phones built in china?

            • +4

@jackinyourbox: If you say the data theft occurs at the hardware level and the Pixel and iPhone have Chinese components, then how do you know they're safe?

              • @ihfree: Lol. You're talking to a troll

            • @jackinyourbox: Iphones and pixel devices are also made in china…

        • +2

Hmmmm…. Time to chuck out my smart tv, laptop, camera, vacuum cleaner … I just checked, they all MADE IN CHINA. Ouch 😂

          • +4

@Acao: Don't forget your mattress and the shirt you're wearing too. God knows how much data they are collecting.

            • +1

@Travis J: yeah … wait … my shirt made in vietnam … chuck it out anyway … it's a Communist country as well …

            • @Travis J: Well, let's not use technology hahahaha and be free XD

              • @froddoog: And naked? Acao is throwing shirts.. And ur talking being free… It can only escalate from there

        • Good. At least you can convince yourself by your own bullshxt.

          • -2

@claud0902: As an prospective or Australian citizen you owe a duty of care with the people you are in contact with when using CCP smart phones.

Poco is a branched company off Xiaomi. It was purposely structured that way, in fact most of Xiaomi has been strategically structured to be “mini silos”.

It’s purpose is to mitigate bad press/reputation if a silo is exposed of their ill practices as seen outside of China.

An internal Chinese audit will report with “Programmer in silo went rogue” and wipe itself clean again of responsibility.

    • Do you have any actual proof that Xiaomi are secretly collecting data, even when using a custom ROM?

      • +4

Ya pretty sure Trump told him in person

      • +10

I installed custom rom on a xiaomi phone and that night a Chinese man knocked on my door.

Granted, I had ordered Chinese food…

        • +2

Did he say nice phone u used to order this food?

        • +3

Did he know what food you wanted and when without you having to actually order it?

      • Do you have any actual proof that Xiaomi are secretly collecting data, even when using a custom ROM?

I'll take the lack of response after eleven days as a 'no'.

    • Why don't we all just buy the phones and flood them with useless data…

    • well….is it the same as apple does, google, Facebook, Huawei, and others?
      or there are some differences?

privacy nowadays sounds like a joke

      • American say "We respect your privacy"

        Chinese replied "What privacy?"

Then they both laughed while enjoying your data.

    • Go Google, type xiaomi phone.

Few seconds after, a lot of online shopping (xiaomi phone) pop up on your Facebook

Please tell me who steals your info.

      Google, or Facebook, or xiaomi??

      • That is not so much 'stealing info' , as it is collecting data in order to allow for targeted marketing (amongst other things)

        • if thats the case, Huawei/Xiaomi are not considered as stealing info. They are just collecting information then.

I just want to point out google/facebook/ebay stole & stored our information, and making money from us.

          • @dts88: Matching facial patterns in photos with contacts and conversations in locations is a powerful. Pairing that with access to your networks and influencing what you see daily is a form of godly control.

      • +1

Google take your data, sell to Facebook, and Xiaomi pay for it.

What's the difference between the UK version and global version ?

    • +3

EU versions have to have the in built ads feature deleted due to EU rules, hence the difference between EU and rest of the world versions.

  • +1

Bigger question is will it arrive? I think majority of the last few months Amazon UK deals have been no show.

    • Bought a Redmi Note 9 Pro from Amazon UK during prime day. Dispatches in 2 days via DHL and arrived in a week.

    • Yeh not sure on this one. If I change domain to Amazon UK I get "Temporarily out of stock" with no ETA.

    • got my amazon UK orders

WD drives and arctic fans from the recent deals.

  • Noticed this price last evening, been curious about the delivery timeliness.

    • +1

Even in peak covid, I received stuff from Amazon US within a week or two at most. UK should be around the same.

    • I ordered a couple of things from Amazon UK on Prime Day. One was very quick, maybe 4 or 5 days only. The other wasn't shipped for a week and then took close to another 2 weeks to get here.

  • +2

Not bad, worth noting that it'll be about $10 cheaper on AliExpress during the 11.11 sale, but then you need to factor in delivery times and also actually securing a unit. Good find though OP.

    • +4

Agree, most of the AE sales with codes are time waste and no guarantee that you actually get that price.

      • Yeah exactly, I'm just gonna buy it here. After factoring in the 3% gift cards from Suncorp, it's actually a bit cheaper on Amazon.

        • Macquarie also offering 3% off now as well, works out to $0.50 cheaper.

    • +2

$10 for Amazon vs Aliexpress is 100% worth it

      • Yep for sure, at least you have a good chance of getting a refund if your device fails.

  • Anyone know if other colours are available? I'm not sure how to find them on the UK Amazon via the .com.au site

  • Very good specs and price. The only thing I don't like and understand is for a phone released in 2020, it's got the USB C 2.0. Even my old LG G6 has USB C 3.1

    • +3

But you can't go wrong with this phone considering the features and specs you are getting for this price.

    • Almost all phones (except flagships) are USB 2.0.
How many millions of them still come with micro connectors?! (Not to mention crApple.)

  • +3

It would be great if it has wireless charger ..

    • I don't understand, is it not prefered to have the fast charging 33w usb-C, over the wireless 10w?

      • If you don’t get it, you don’t get it.

      • Being able to throw the Xiaomi mi mix 3 onto the charging pad in the centre console is one of life's little treasures. Could not go back to wired.

        • If the X3 had wireless charge I'd have already pulled the trigger.

  • Pity no cashback for Mobile Phones. That might have pushed me over the edge of the decision making.

    • 3% discounted gift cards with Suncorp, brings it down to ~$339 :)

      • Macquarie as well

  • +2

On the UK page it shows 2 years warranty in the heading. That text is missing on the AU page. Any idea how Amazon AU would handle that if needed?

    • In my experience with UK-AU they have just refunded me when there has been an issue.

Two occasions, missing screws from opened box, wrong item. Both where under A$20 so I have no idea about more expensive stuff.

Warranty experience for Amazon via US is a bit rough, but they just end up offering a return refund, in fact Amazon have never offered me anything other than a refund with/without return.

Sometimes it's annoying if you got on sale as you would not be able to replace it.

      • I have had a partial refund (25%) on software issue with my Corsair HS70 Wireless (Amazon US), which I managed to fix myself. The issue was Corsair stuff up on iCUE software.

    • +1

The last image also says 2 year warranty when you look on the Oz site.

  • Is this the same model thats going to be US$199.10 on the 11/11 sale?

    • 64g vs 128g?

      • Ah true

  • +1

It's been asked already, but does anybody know if there are differences between the UK version and the Global version? Will the UK version have B28 for Aust etc?

    • Also wanting to confirm the same thing. Taken from https://www.mi.com/uk/poco-x3-nfc/specs/
      Supports network bands
      4G: LTE FDD: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28
      4G: LTE TDD: B38/40/41 (2535-2655MHz)
      3G: WCDMA: B1/2/4/5/8
      2G: GSM: B2/3/5/8

      • "Supports dual SIM and dual VoLTE"
"Note: Dual VoLTE requires the support of local telecom operator services, and may not be available in all regions."

Knowing local Telcos, this may or may not work. That is an unreal price for such a featured phone!

    • The UK version would have EU software and the difference is something to do with the Google apps I believe?.
There is explanations on the net, do a search for EU version vs Global version.
I'm sure the hardware is the same as is the network capability.

      • EU version doesn't come with many of that bloatware, and those "ads" that people are so afraid of?

  • I just placed an order, although it says In Stock, it now says "delivery date pending" and that they'll email me when they have a delivery date. Might be OOS?

    • Its just too soon for it to be in the system yet, still shows as stock etc.

      • Yeah but usually when I order stuff on Amazon, it will say ETA: X date straight away, this just says "pending".

Should be good though, just a bit odd.

      • Don't know if the AU site is up to date with the UK one was temporarily unavailable before, now showing as currently unavailable.

        Might be a bit of a wait…

        • Ah that might be it.

Oh well, I'm not in a huge rush, plus I assume it'll arrive way sooner than getting it off AliExpress anyway.

        • The UK store showed stock all the time for me, including when I ordered a few hours ago, and does now as well. Though I do have a uk address in my account and it is defaulting to delivery there if that makes a difference to their stock indicators.

    • +1

I found that a bit odd myself, but if i chose the fastest delivery, it was actually showing a delivery date, so i didn't think much of it! Hopefully they'll update my order tomorrow with more information on an eta.

  • +1

    Price now $349.84 … damn that 37 cents ….

  • +2

If you can wait 3 days, and prefer the 64gb version then go for this deal - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC 6GB 64GB US$199.10 (~A$282.85) Shipped @ Xiaomi Official Store

    • -1

Why would someone prefer 64gb over 128gb?

      • +1

        Cheaper

      • +1

I would. It's significantly cheaper and i have never once come close to filling even 32 gig on a phone so the extra space is redundant.

  • Got one, thanks OP. Great deal, I'm much happier to purchase from Amazon UK than TobyDeals or AliExpress.

  • +2

    I paid $347.23 + 33.33tax = $366.61
    For the gray 128gb model.
From AliExpress and it took almost a month to come to melbourne from China.

This deal is even better with free prime delivery and good service from amazon.

I fully recommend this phone. Been using for a month.

Great screen with 120hz display (iPhone 12 has 60hz..), big battery, apps run great. And lots of growing XDA community support.

Xiaomi has been great with updates too. Two so far.

    • Yeap I can second this. been using it for a month now.

  • +5

I have had the 128gb version for close to a month now. Purchased on Toby's deals so took about a month to get here from Hong Kong but was delivered for $358.

Love this phone. Fantastic battery life / screen / processing speeds etc.

If you are interested in the phone but have never tried Xiaomi there is no need to hesitate it is an excellent product and for the price can't be beat at the moment.
