I'm a bit of an idiot with these things, I have a samsung q60r TV - is there a quick way to find out if this will work with it (currently just using TVs speakers)?

On the specs page it says: Digital Audio Out (Optical): 1
But no idea about the pass through

    https://www.samsung.com/au/tvs/qled-tv/q60r-55-inch-qled-4k-…

    From Rtings:
    Audio Passthrough
    ARC
    Yes (HDMI 4)
    eARC support
    No
Dolby Atmos via TrueHD via eARC
    No
DTS:X via DTS-HD MA via eARC
    No
    5.1 Dolby Digital via ARC
    Yes
    5.1 DTS via ARC
    No
    5.1 Dolby Digital via Optical
    Yes
    5.1 DTS via Optical
    No
The Q60 doesn't support DTS or eARC.

Whilst I don’t know about your set specifically I’ve used the PlayBar with this years Q80 and Q95 with absolutely no problems

Sorry mate. I don't own either.
To get a definitive answer to your question, the best way would be to find a TGG which has both products and test it before committing.

      • Thank you both

    • Works with both my Samsung TVs, one 3 years old and one 2020 model (MU and TU range). If I remember correctly q60r is last year’s model and is superior to the models I have so it should definitely work.

Fair Warning to all you guys. Sonos have a history of bricking their devices once they don't want to support them in the app anymore. This story isn't exactly that but shows they can brick old hardware. https://www.engadget.com/2020-03-05-sonos-kills-its-device-b…

    • They are not bricked you can still use them, I have a whole house full so know. Playbar, sub, play ones, play 3, and only 2 original play 5’s which are legacy but still work as always.

    • Fair warning. But I imagine it would be a lot of years before that would happen with the PlayBar, especially given the size of the installed user base

A history? It’s happened once, ever.

Before S2, Sonos were supporting devices from 2005. 15 years with backwards compatibility in hardware is unheard of in tech.

But since they have gone public, quarterly profits are more important to them now.

Personally I think this is a great deal!

I’ve got the PlayBar in lounge and Beam in bedroom a d the PB is definitely the better device.

I reckon it sits somewhere between the Beam and the Arc so at this price it’s a great option

    • Good to know. I'm really tossing between Beam and Playbar.

  • For those that way inclined, Amazon has the same price

  • If you have a newer Sony TV you will have to turn off Bluetooth for the playbar to work. So the voice on remote won’t work, I don’t use it anyway so don’t care, last thing I want to do is talk to the tv remote lol.
I am using playbar, sub and 2 x play ones for years.

  • Everyone is looking for the MS750 though! /s

I was in hardly normal yesterday and I swear I saw these for 599? But no price on it on their website? Maybe I'm getting confused with something else, but sure it was Sonos as I have somee of their gear.

    • If you can, please confirm this

Dazzza may have got lucky and happened on stock. They’re still advertising the PlayBase for $599.

        • Sorry haven't gone back into store to check, hopefully will be heading that way in the next day or two…. I will check then.

        • Which is the more expensive and "better" obsolete soundbar, playbar or playbase ?

Eyes peeled for Sub deals peeps!!!

  • Back in stock at 1:30pm
