Hi all,
After a soundbar for my Dad's birthday as he's never had one. Know nothing about the field but tested a few on demo at jb hi fi over lunch. Q60r is $799 no discounts currently but the series 6 HW-T650 is $399 after a $200 discount on JB's website (and seems other retailers). They currently use TV speakers, and have been for the last part of the decade since my dad's old school large bass/amplifier/speaker setups.
Anyone tried either or better still both and have any recommendations? The t650 only does 3.1 whereas the q60r has the ability to add the extra back speakers for a priec ($180'ish in jb). The issue is my parents have a medium/small open living, so the dining table is behind the couches and the alfresco is on the left hand side - so the idea of cables running behind seems abit unlikely/messy for them (i'm presuming).
Any suggestions? I didnt want to go super cheap, or super expensive as they're not big buffs, but hoping at this price range one of these speakers would seem like a decent gift in bumping up their sound? They have a 65" samsung tv bought 3-4 years ago if that makes a difference?
Ratings for both are "ok" but sitll average, circa 7.x out of 10 on most places. They're also complaining about no wifi and other non-bluetooth connectivity, and no dolby atmos, but frankly they'd watch youtube, netflix and whatever overseas flix they can download, so I don't think they'd be making full use of blue ray or other 'high calibre' media anyhow?
Any advice? Store guy has the Q60R and has mentioned it's the first harman kadon one they brought out after purchasing, so wondering if the quality is worth the extra (At $799, unless it goes cheaper on sale usually?)
RTings rates the T650 as slightly better than the Q60T (note the T, not R).
