What modem do people pair this up with? Or do people just wire this in in another room ala gaming room to an existing modem router?
Probably just FTTP or FTTN so no modem needed.
FTTN needs a VDSL2 modem.
NBN supplies the modem as it sends power back to the the node. So you can't choose a modem.
What kind of NBN do you have? FTTP, HFC etc.

Man I remember my mate buying one from a BingLee promo this time last year. Think he paid 460/480ish with Asus cash back offer. The one time my exercised FOMO restraint and its let me down lol
Your memory is good. I searched and the lowest was $499 back to July 2019 after the cash back. In my view, the bottleneck is the home internet instead of this expensive router.

Asus announced the Wifi 6e router back in Sep due to release in December ( ROG RAPTURE GT-AXE11000 6 GHz router) if someone wants to wait.
Apart from the WiFi standard it can support, how does this compare with UniFi Dream Machine?
