When few different retailers have it at the same price go few stores & negotiate should be able to get a better deal

    • I'm curious - has any managed to do this and negotiate a better price? I suspect no because it's a popular item at that price point but keen to hear if anyone has had any luck

      • +1

$2790 at my local HN, Inc delivery

  • Does this 200hz mean 100hz?

    • +3

      No it means 120hz

      • I don’t understand why they advertise at 200hz

        • Hangover from cathode rays and PAL standard TVs. Our power is 50hz, so on the old CRTs they used to poll at 50hz. Our broadcast TV is still in 50hz, but luckily modern TVs do multiples of both 50 & 60hz. It will only accept a native signal at up to 120hz although it can display up to 240 images/second with a motion smoothing setting on it will create a hybrid frame - or up to nine, with 24fps cinema mode blurays - in between what is provided by the source. If you have a variable frame rate source hooked up the TV will probably default to game mode and you will never see 200/240hz mode anyway.

Harvey Norman is five minutes away from me and the closest JB is two hours. Happy about this.

  • I have this TV and it is amazing. Only issue I have at the moment is that it doesn’t deal with 5.1 audio well when playing from KODI.

Optus Sport sucks big time on it but that’s most likely optus fault.

    • Curious to know what makes Optus so bad on this? I’m looking to buy and that’s one thing I need to able to use frequently

      • I don’t think it upscales the 720 to 4K really well when it comes to sport. The ball has jittery effect which is really annoying. I found out that optus only offers 4K sports on 5G only. I get better quality when I hook up fetch to the tv rather than playing with the built in app.

      • Possibly because it's only 720p? But that applies to all devices except watching the live channels on the latest generation Fetch boxes (1080p) or if you have Optus 5G (4K apparently).

        Edit: beaten by @ashley7070 ;)

      • Found some review notes - on this matter it said:

There's a bit of ‘dirty screen effect’ that can be distracting when watching sports.

        —-

That seems to be the only real negative. That aside - and that may put some off - seems like a pretty impressive tv if you want a larger display and aren’t hankering for OLED.

    • +2

You want to turn off all motion smoothing effects on TV for watching ball sports, the frame insertion artifacts really badly on balls for some reason.

Does this bad boy have HDMI 2.1?

    • Yes

    • +1

Only one hdmi input is 2.1

      • My reading confirmed it’s HDMI 4 that has 2.1.

  • The price wars is starting and its not even Black Friday yet!

    • I’m afraid the war ends soon and retailers don’t offer anything worthwhile for BF and Boxing Day.

  • This or LG CX 48 which is more expensive delivered. Yolo though

    • +2

Size desired should guide your answer as the differential is significant.

      • +3

Correct. If you use this for your desk monitor, you're a fool.
If you use the cx 48" for lounge tv, you're a fool.

  • This tv or should I spend a bit more for a Sony tv instead? And if the latter, which Sony or another Samsung tv model to buy? I'll use the tv for min of 10 yrs.

The room I watch in is both bright and dark (depending on time of day), tv will face Window so there'll be glare and reflections, using for Tv shows, Netflix, YouTube and some games.

Go to rtings and compare. You can look at specs that you care about and usage you care about.

For me, the Q80T was the best choice of all TVs besides LG OLED, but bigger than 65 they’re super expensive.

  • Id also consider the sony 75 inch 90h
Also supports hdmi 2.1 however has some issues that sony say they plan to address with firmware. Has 2 x hdmi 2.1 however one is eArc . But this also supports Dolby vision which samsung does not.

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/sony-75-inch-x90h-full-array…

    • No Dolby vision on Samsung TVs unfortunately.

    • imo Q80r/Q80T is on a par with 9500G/9500H, not 9000h

  • +1

For the same price Sony X9000H I would pick the Q80T

Better reviews and actually has 4k120 and VRR unlike Sony’s claim that it’s coming but with no date

    • -2

4k120 just isn’t available in Australia yet

      • Xbox Series X supports 4K@120fps and VRR. PS5 also supports 4K@120fps (and VRR apparently in a future update).

        • -1

Yes but Sony haven’t updated for Australian Oceania region.

  • Had this for a week, paid $3440. Love it. Getting refund for the difference from HN. Was pleasantly surprised with my dealings with them this afternoon.

It replaced a sony x95g. Usb record. Timeshift. It's the simple things that matter at home.

    • which TV ?

      • I've had this q80t for a week now, it replaced the Sony x95g. Sony was a nice picture sure. No usb record or timeshift on a TV like that was a killer (i should have looked harder at the specs, assumed a fancy TV would have them). EARC sound issues (went as far as buying the sony 9000f soundbar hoping to fix but that changed nothing.

        Very happy with the switch.

        • Do you know if its possible to automatically start timeshift on this TV every time it's powered on?

          • @rooon: Once HDD is set up, if it timeshift isn't running already, it starts when you press pause.

    • didnt like the sony?

      • As above. Sony has a nice picture.

  • Want TV to be good for sports.
Any owners able to comment on dirty screen effect that is a common complaint for q80t?

    • Also interested to know this.

Can you use multiple gift cards when ordering on HN website?

    • Yes

  • +1

has anyone found a good deal on the 65 inch size? not sure if the reviews are just as good on the smaller size

    • +1

I would also like to get the 65", the 75" is too big for the space we have.

      • +2

I only have less than 2meters distance to 75" TV.
Bit annoyed for the 1st month, felt good from the 2nd month. No problem eyes adapt.

        • Interesting, what do you mean by annoyed? Was it just eye strain?

  • This TV doesnt have Dolby Vision, isnt a lot of new content on streaming services coming out in Dolby Vision these days?

  • Great price for a great TV. Joyce Mayne have the same deal as well. https://www.joycemayne.com.au/samsung-75-inch-q80t-4k-qled-s….

LG oled 65 or this ….??? Worried about the burn in issues of LG …!!! Plz suggest …!
    Thanks

    • I have an LG 55" OLED and it's by far the best TV I've owned. There's no burn from a couple of years of heavy use, including video games. I think I'm going to wait for a deal on the LG CX 65" OLED, rather than getting one of these Samsungs.

Has anybody had experience with both the LG OLED and Samsung QLED? Am I crazy for being an OLED maximalist?

    • +1

The CX65 is in very short supply unfortunately, you’ll be paying even more of a premium this year.

Burn in is a none issue, at worse you get a bit of temporary image retention if your not careful.

  • Thanks.
I am looking at getting LG oled 65gx @ $4170 with delivery &installation… ( $600 for replacement warranty if need for 4years after the 1st year)

  • This or the Q60T which is about 1k cheaper?

  • Does anyone know which is better between Samsung & Sony just as a regular tv (no gaming etc)? I’ve read Samsung has a lot of ads which is putting me off. Looking to replace our LG that is only 2 years old but wifi constantly cuts out (known issue with the model :( ) so we can’t watch any streaming without using a chromecast.

    • Apple TV built in is good for flashing up photos and videos, screen streaming etc. (Samsung)

  • Quoted $2790 from HN.
Inc delivery, not full set up, just install base and set on cabinet.
Two weeks wait on arrival,no stock in WA apparently.

(HN seem to have this weird thing were they don't get it from another store, or central warehouse in city)

    • I ended up ordering it click & collect from City West, they called & said it needs to stay upright so delivery is better so I booked for this Saturday. I was told they’re stocked at a Balcatta warehouse

      • I was almost sold.on the 75" Sony, but really tempted to get this instead.

  • Jb hifi said Samsung told them no further stock for this tv is going to come

  • +1

Thanks OP, just bought from HN Osborne Park :)

    • no worries man , I myself missed from Jb hifi but grabbed from HN

      • It was quick & easy for me to hand over the $$$ after giving it the once over in JB’s Cannington. Free delivery on Friday & a few extra $$ off. Pretty sure that they said 20+ in the warehouse.

        • How much did you pay?

          • @Spending2Much: $2,860.00. Not a huge saving, but any $$ in my pocket is a good thing.

  • Got it and the Sammy Soundbar Samsung S61T , will pair nicely with the XBox Series X…

  • +1

Viewed this screen today in person. I was surprised by the picture quality ! Very decent

  • No Dolby vision in this. What am I missing out on?

We have an Apple TV 4K and are active watchers of Netflix, Disney plus and our Sony 4K UHD player.

    • +1

      Also want to know this.

  • so turns out that you cant set google as voice assistant on this tv, bit annoying
