soakwashrinsespin on 30/11/2011 - 16:43 ¶Awesome; confirmed as working here! :)
There was a promo code that gave new and exiting members A|Club Platinum a few weeks ago, but Accor pulled it before I could post to OzBargain. I suggest anyone interested in this hops on it fast because the loophole (if it is a loophole) probably won't last very long.
soakwashrinsespin on 30/11/2011 - 16:50 ¶I saw my status change to 'Platinum' on the A|Club website before I got the email. The email came about 5 minutes after I submitted the form.

Make sure your address is uptoday! They send you out a new card as part of this.
I was updated my deatils after I followed these steps for the Platinum upgrade. Sent a message to customer support and they said it will be sent to my new address, but not sure if that's automatic or because I sent the customer service email.
duck in cave on 30/11/2011 - 20:21 ¶Says after your next stay at a participating Accor hotel in my email.
sonicentropy on 30/11/2011 - 17:38 ¶I just got to platinum with priority club and was going to try for platinum with this one.
+2 votesspawnpoint on 30/11/2011 - 17:41 ¶Validation was pretty dodgy
but confirmed working as platimum member.+1 for the Hack
soakwashrinsespin on 30/11/2011 - 17:56 ¶Accor A|Club doesn't have a "soft landing" like some other loyalty programs, where you just drop to Gold status if you don't meet Platinum requirements for that year. If you don't meet the requirements over next year for A|Club Platinum or Gold or Silver, you'll drop all the way down to the base Classic level.
Hopefully there'll be another promo code or loophole/hack like this in another year, though. :)

In My Account details, it says:
Last A|Club transaction: 30 Nov 2011
Current A|Club account balance: 0
Extend your A|Club points expiration date by earning points before:
30 Nov 2012Does that mean if I can keep extending my Platinum status if I stay in an Accor hotel every year?
some_one_some_where on 30/11/2011 - 18:05 ¶Thanks OP:)) gr8 find. Just in time for my Christmas bookings!

Room upgrade**
Late check-out up to 4:00 pm**
A room always available if you reserve at least 3 days before your arrivalThese benefits only apply to the Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery chains I believe. You just mention your card status and number when booking AND when you check-in, as some hotels can be a bit iffy and won't give you the free stuff unless you specifically ask/push them for it.
The "room always available" benefit only applies if you don't book during various "blackout days" - these dates can be found here: http://www.a-club.com/en/bod.html (page doesn't seem to work with Chrome/Firefox, but works in IE)

By chance I was quoted a night at the Sofitel in Papeete (stop over before going to Bora Bora) in July at a travel agent today…
Also wanting to know how the room upgrade works…
Got online quotes and they are the same regardless of being signed in as platinum and as a non-member.
greenpossum on 30/11/2011 - 19:07 ¶Hahaha, very nice. Thank you very much. I just got demoted to peasant level a couple of weeks back and was going to lose my points soon. Now I have a year's reprieve.
gofvkyourself on 30/11/2011 - 19:18 ¶Nice it worked!
how does this other thing about velocity status match work? "Even if Accor rolls down the shutters you can still quality for Accor A|Club Platinum via Virgin Australia's Velocity Rewards program. Velocity Platinum members are eligible for free Europcar Privileges Privilege Elite membership, which in turn comes with a status-match to Accor A|Club Platinum"I clicked the link and it left me more confused then when I started

+3 votesseanbsydney on 30/11/2011 - 20:19 ¶Got it just because I could. Now I can say I'm a platinum member, that just feels good ;-)

wizzlesticks on 30/11/2011 - 20:27 ¶Now wouldn't it just be awesome if one of the other hotel programs offered a status match? Hello, Starwood Preferred Guest…? :p
spawnpoint on 30/11/2011 - 23:17 ¶checking status online is much better
You should be seeing something like this

+3 votesspawnpoint on 30/11/2011 - 23:49 ¶no…just a platinum card, not made of real platinum but plastic. Read OP

+3 votesBecause you get platinum status benefits for free which normally require you to stay at the accor chain for at least 60 nights. See here for what those benefits are under the heading PLATINUM: http://www.a-club.com/en/membership-levels.html
All this has already been mentioned several times in this thread.

I got in 10-15 mins ago.
Email 8 mins ago: "Member number: 3081034234xxxxxx, Account balance on November 30, 2011:
0, Status: A|Club Platinum etc etc".Thanks OP. Thanks ACCOR
As others have suggested, would be a great bonus if we could lock in on any other offers that reward Accor Platinum membership (before it gets devalued!).

NOT EXPIRED!
I just signed up and confirmed - still showing platinum for me.
Just to clarify for everyone else, you only need to register through the deals page - you DON'T need to go back to the page and put your number and email in.
As soon as you register using the link on the deals page you will be Platinum.
Hope this helps :)
vietbargain on 01/12/2011 - 09:21 ¶just tried. works if you're a new member, not if you're exisiting.

I kaboose I on 01/12/2011 - 09:29 ¶Signed up successfully and received the email! Platinum ftw.
Just a question though, my email says "Your A|Club card will be sent to you right after your next stay at a participating Accor hotel." I haven't seen this mentioned in the post or any comments - am I still a platinum member if I don't have a card?
+1 voteInfo on the last page:
"You will receive an e-mail confirming your member number. Please allow 24 hours before using your member number to make reservations on-line. Remember to print it and keep it in a safe place.
Your A|Club card will be sent to you after your first stay.
Until then, simply mention your member number upon arrival at the hotel."
