Replacement for AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler

Looking for a replacement heatsink+fan cooler for my mini ITX. I'm not a hardcore user so the stock cooler is pretty good. But when I get the time to game it does get a little toasty. I saw the Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 but it doesn't seem to perform much better then stock. And don't really want AIO.

Any thoughts on a low profile cooler?

  • I'm not much use here sorry but will follow in case you get a response. I'm also trying to avoid an AIO but my Wraith Prism on my 3800X gets loud and toasty, don't mind the noise if I can get better thermals.

Note: It's pretty expensive at $115 AUD and as the case with 'low profile coolers', they all have the same achilles heel which is the lack of surface area. So if you're expecting drastically lower temps over stock you may be disappointed with all types of LP air coolers.

    • Thanks. Looks like the best option. Shame there's not more sales on it over black friday.

  • Toasty is probably fine. But a better heatsink and fan could make it quieter under load.

bequiet's Shadow Rock LP or Shadow Rock TF 2

    • The Shadow Rock TF 2 looks great.

  • What case do you have?

    • corsair obsidian mini itx. Has a good amount of space but didn't want to fill it all up with a large CPU cooler

  • Optimum Tech specialises in videos on high performance ITX and other SFF computing. They've done some great comparison videos on low profile cpu coolers.
