Certificate framing

I recently graduated from Uni and want to put my degree certificate in a frame.

Does anyone know where to get a good quality frame for a good price?

My uni, Melbourne, had frames for sale but they were $120/$160 for what looked like quite nice frames.

I don't mind spending that much on a good frame with double mat, but just what some options before deciding on which one to go with. Also, I have no idea of quality.

Thanks.

  • get a $5 one from Kmart :D
I have certificates from graduation but I just leave mine in a portfolio, guess I just don't get displaying them. Big W has some decent frames, but for nice ones maybe someone like Camera house has some better quality ones.

  • You've not said where in Melbourne you are, but if you're in the northern suburbs, there's a photo framing place in Coburg - http://melbourne.yalwa.com.au/ID_102060644/Ausdart-Australia… - which might be of interest.

I've used them for travel photo framing myself (a few years back, but it's still the same people, to my knowledge) and was very happy with them for (1) choice of mats, (2) choice of frames, and (3) they didn't have the frame design I wanted so they designed it for me on their computer as a special job, no charge. They will definitely have certificate sized frames by default there, for well under what is charged at UniMelb graduation events. If you're wanting to spend a little more, you can change the frame and mat colour to suit your preferences, but that will cost you more than picking one off the shelf obviously. Still, it won't be $120/$160, is my guess.

    • Hmm, certificates often have irregular length to width ratios. It would still be worth checking out the pre-made frames, though my best guess would be that they conform to regular photo sizes.

A double mat will be custom cut anyway, so it might be worth getting the entire thing custom fitted so that you get an even amount of mat on all four sides.
