Much better than the bottles, which are brewed in China and not Japan IIRC.

    • +3

      That China stuff is repugnant

    • the bottles are made under license in China, Singapore and Australia.
I prefer the cans which are made in Japan

    • Checked label on bottle last week - Product of Australia, made under license. Cans for me!

Good deal - a slab of 24 works out to be $2.70 per can.

    • +3

the case price is the same as always… buying 4 x 6 packs is more expensive…

      • The math checks out

  • +10

only a good deal if you only want a 6 pack or two, the case price is always $67.99 which is better value… its pretty much the only beer I buy so I stay on top of the pricing, haha

    • +2

yeah this is not a deal…. just buy a case ffs

These are fantastic, one of the best beers imo

Just wish we could get a similar deal for Kirin Ichiban.

    • Yeah I much prefer it, these Asahi cans are a bit crunchy but would do the job

    • +1

      I just want Japanese Sapporo

      • Apparently Sapporo is from South Australia in a bottle or Vietnam in a can.

        • Correct.

If you are buying more than a 6 pack (eg a case), and it's convenient, go for this deal with upsized cashback and bonus Fly Buys: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/587942

    • Their case price is cheaper than Dan's anyway

      • +1

        Both are $68 for me.

Bought @20% cashback on pre GST price = $49.45 plus $10 worth of Flybuys credit.

Not as cheap as Boozebud deals using Groupon vouchers in past🍺

        • Hmmm $65 for me in WA.
Decent deal stacking everything for sure!

          • @whitelie: Can deposit - cheaper prices where it doesn't apply.

            • @INFIDEL: We have the deposit scheme here (only recently so maybe FC haven't changed their prices yet)

              • @whitelie: Could be competing with cheaper competitor.
                Enjoying a pizza & cold Asahi🍺

                • @INFIDEL: I wish I was! Got a box in the fridge at home but on nightshift tonight and tomorrow :(

                  • @whitelie: Bought this because couldn't get to Japan this year.

Anticipation will make your beers & my trip more enjoyable👍

So is it brewed in Japan ? I thought unless if you buy from independent licensed Asian grocery they are brewed outside Japan

    • +1

The first comment answers your question as do a few other above. Quicker to read than type!

But in answer to your question cans are brewed in Japan bottles are brewed under licence in China and a couple of other places.

      • Odd question which I can never seem to get a clear answer to but where are the kegs brewed.

Like on tap at a pub etc is it brewed in Japan or somewhere else?

        • Always wondered this too.
Tastes like it's not brewed in Japan tho.

        • I've been informed that the kegs are Japanese brewed, but might have changed since australian production started this year.

      • Thank you for your answer. I just want to double confirm. Because I had a case of Sapporo (bottle) which brewed in Australia, and it taste i rather forget

        • Sapporo cans I bought were from Vietnam

        • Sapporo I believe are brewed by Cooper's

    • Yeah the cans are brewed in Japan.

Actually drinking one of them now

  • I love these big cans. Delicious, Japanese brewed and just wonderful. Weekend sorted.

  • Hi OP why is deal expired? It should run until the 16th

    • No idea. I didn't expire it. Maybe the mods did. I will report it.

      • Looks like it's active again. Had a can last night. Very enjoyable.

  • Why not buy a case from Liquorland with SB's 22% cashback till 4pm today - $70 less 22% = $54.60 ka-ching or $2.275 per can.
I also got a 1L Jim Beam @ $53 less cashback. Yes over max'd out and won't get the full 22% on the Beam but still comes in a $43.40 for 1L or $30.38 per 700ml …. and because I exceeded $100 on purchase Liquorland will deliver for freeeeeee :)
