Deal of the day for this screwdriver set. Bought one a few years ago and it's a very handy little screwdriver for this little jobs around the house.

Not as cheap as last week but still great value at $44.90.

The secateurs is a good little tool too to assist with pruning little branches. Think this is the lowest they have been, I bought them around $95 last June.

  • Does anyone have experience with the Secateurs? Are they worth the money over manual ones?

    • +1

My partner thinks they are great, we use them quite a bit as we have quite a few trees and bushes in our garden. They just help with the strain on your hands if you need to snip a lot or bigger branches.

      • Thanks. I might have to consider getting them. I've been wanting better Secateurs anyway.

Why not just get a set of loppers? I thought they looked good until I saw that they are only rated to 25mm.

        • What pair do you recommend?

          • @Jklaro: Spear & Jackson Lopper - Bypass 585MM SJ-LBB23, Red, 584MM Overall https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07SLDD42M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f…

Depends on size but these should be fine.

          • +1

@Jklaro: No offence to LittleTicket but don't go anywhere near the likes of those loppers. They are shit. You'd want to be looking at something with a solid mechanism and decent cutting ability. The Fiskars are a good place to start looking, such as these Power Gear Bypass Loppers, which at $38 offer excellent value for money. Note the quarter cog mechanism, 50mm cut ability, and less likely to strain or injure yourself.

            • @cornbeef: Ow wow those look good. I might get both since the others are so cheap.

              • @Jklaro: Don't bother with the cheap ones. They'll be in the bin before you know it.

                • @cornbeef: Ok cool. What about hand pruners what do you recommend?

                • @cornbeef: I seen these. They looked well built lifetime warranty.

                  • @Jklaro: Perhaps best when buying secateurs to get a feel of them in the hand. Important to consider things like size and shape (strain), locking mechanism (PIA or not), diameter of cut, spring type (for when they fly off and need to be replaced), how the blade is attached (cheaper ones often have a nut that that loosens constantly) etc.

Some folks like using Felco or Bahco and plenty of mid range brands like fiskars that are totally fine. If you do a lot of cutting you'll want a good set. Can be handy just to have a cheap pair laying around for the occasional cut as well. The ones that get rusty and you can never find when you need them.

That said the secateurs you linked are just fine. They are on the larger side and perhaps not as solid as the aluminium version, but have a replaceable spring, good blade and latch mechanism. They have a 20mm cut and the aluminium ones are 26mm.

                    Hope this helps Jklaro.

              @cornbeef: This guy lops.

    • haven't tried battery secateurs but did buy this and its very useful I've found…

      • How long does the battery last? My (non-gardening) recip saw empties my batteries faster than anything else I own!

        • +1

I can fill my gardening bin on a single charge. Its about the max I've used it in one go

    • +1

Got them for a relative with issues with hand strength - they are very happy with them

Hi Op, can you please let me know if you have seen any polisher or buffer deals? Thank you

I bought this Ryobi screwdriver for $49 from Bunnings yesterday, I was tempted to return it and get this Bosch but the Ryobi has slightly higher voltage, 2 speed settings, comes with more bits, and (iirc) slightly higher torque.

  • +1

How does this compare to a cheaper ozito from bunnings?

  • +2

At this price point, it's better to buy Ozito one. This Bosch model doesnt have speed control.

    • I bought one of these last time not realising that it had no speed control. It really makes it an almost useless unit as a screw driver!

  • Wait for the VI to go back on sale, far better than the V

  • How are these vs ikea

I have the ikea, it's good but few yrs old not sure if it'll die soon
