  • I was just looking at these. Saw them on Price Hipster. Was looking at reviews too.

  • Thanks OP, just grabbed some.

  • Only 5 hours playtime…

    • +1,

2 years ago I'll take this deal crazily, but for the TWS era ……..

      • These would suit fitness more, and also convenience of strap. Most cheapo TWS claim long battery life, but rarely reach it for more than 6 months, and of course the terrible mic situation in cheapo tws ;-)

        • I got pair of Fiil t1x. solid sound and mic. bought for around $80

          • +2

@kaizilla: Yea for sure, some people are super happy with the cheapos, it's hard going from decent ones to the cheapos though.

Do I need another set of headphones :S

    • +3

What a coincidence we're asking ourselves the same question lol. I'm getting back to the gym in January and I've never been a fan of full over-ear headphones while working out - too sweaty.

      • I got some buds plus and plantronics over the head sure it would be nice to have another set of bose, but I think they recently released a refresh of their headphones so this model maybe on the way out.

        • Yeah I think you are right about them being phased out. The in-ear ones I have now (probably 2 year old, $20 crap) are really average, but my biggest gripe is the wind noise. But looking at these, I doubt they would solve that issue.

          • @BugsBunnyAUS: I had the non-pulse version and it won't block wind noise during running. I don't think it worth buying at full price, sound is slighly better than my Taotronic but at this price, it is a bargain.

            • @SickMyDuck: Thanks! I think I will give these a pass, it's hard to justify when the ones I have, even if crap, still work OK.

          • @BugsBunnyAUS: I got 2 pairs of Sony smart b trainers looking at me as exercising headphones, previous deal from jb hifi they do a good job, software and support has been dropped by sony, however.

  • That review is almost 4 years old, I wouldn't assume that it's still accurate when considering that wireless earbuds have improved a lot since then.

    • Yeah Bluetooth 5 etc meaning higher bitrate, transmit and battery usage.

      • +2

Most don't implement these features as most are optional as part of BT 5.0. Most won't even notice a difference at all.

        • Yeah, I was under the impression that Bluetooth 5 can carry more data, but the Bluetooth codecs that are used already fit under the existing Bluetooth 4.2 data carry capabilities, so therefore you won't experience any better sound quality.

I think that theoretically you have more range with Bluetooth 5, but I'm not too sure about how that works - i.e. with Bluetooth 5 you can have either higher data stream, or longer distance transmission, but not both at the same time.

Anyone chip in with an answer?

          • @Droz: As far as I remember, it was related to power consumption. you can have both. Nearly all beneficial BT 5.0 features are optional, and don't have to be implemented.

The range thing is related to encoding only, nothing else. Both sender and receiver has to support it though.

The important thing is, BT 5.0 doesn't improve sound quality at all.

actual quality brand using bt 4.2 is better than nearly any cheapo bt 5.0 tws anyway

Have both the Jabra elite 75t and these (non-pulse). While the jabras are far better ergos in-ear (the bose are big and stick out) and have charging case, IMHO the bose match or beat the jabras for sound qual (especially mid range which is more fwd in the bose, even if you EQ the jabras). Also the cord is darn handy to dangle them around neck. Cant go wrong at this price if not hugely concerned about looks.

  • Thanks op I snagged a pair. Pretty happy at this price.

Used to own these. About 2/3 years ago, so they're not new.

Decent earphones, although a bit bulky protruding out the ears.

Also found the cable connecting them a little annoying, sometimes annoying during running, and can feel it pressing against your neck when doing exercises on the bench press etc.

    I'd give them a 3.5/5.

I upgraded to the Jabra Buds about a year ago, haven't looked back. Just as good sound, without an annoying cable connecting them, and the Jabra have better battery.

Wouldn't recommend these outdated earphones IMHO. Unless really on a budget.

    • Which Jabra? 65t?

      • Sorry not sure, last years model…

  • +3

Had this pair for 3years, still like new, highly recommend picking them up at this price.
    Quality Bose sound.

  • +4

I highly recommend this. Deep bass. Pulse is useless if you have a smart watch. You can connect to 2 devices at any given time. ESP if you have 2 phones.

  • Would this stay intact while running ?

    • Yep perfect for running ergonomically and also as they have strong bass which gets washed out otherwise.

  • Good sound, and ok for phone calls.
Would not buy again however. Had two sets of these fail in the same fashion, with the attached volume control seeming to be affected. It’s almost like the volume down button got stuck. Intermittent at first and then just stayed.
Bose replaced the first set, as the pair was only 10 months old, but refused to replace a second time, another 10 or so months down the track.

  • These are rubbish. I had two pairs replaced each after a year. The rubber casing on the volume controller started coming apart.

  • These are great, much better sound than apples.

I haven't broken mine yet and they're over 3 years old now - but I don't use them very often.

gotta be gentle with shit with cords.

cord has an upside in that you can't lose one earphone.

  • Thanks OP. Bought a set. For me the sound is fantastic! Haven't taken it for a run yet. Only part I'm getting used to is the intergrated ear wing and earbud in one mould. Would've preferred a seperate changeable earbud.

  • How are these vs the Jaybird x4?

  • +1

Drove over mine. Did not help their performance.
