Xbox Series S $499 in-Store @ JB Hi-Fi

7715

First time poster yada yada yada This isn't really a deal but I went to get my son a tv at JB HI FI and ended up purchasing Xbox Series x and S. Salesperson said stores have had a small dump of stock. I told my brother and he went to a different JB store and picked one up. If you want one before Xmas give the stores a call and you might get lucky x Merry Xmas

Mod: Removed Duplicate - Xbox Series X $749 from title.

      It is the normal price.

      • +19

It's not a bargain then, should be posted on OzStockAvailable….

        • +1

If I could buy an Nvidia Founders Edition 3080 for MSRP it would be ~300 cheaper than any alternative and run better than those alternatives.

A bargain has nothing to do with an MSRP, finding these next gen consoles pre Christmas at the 'normal' price is definitely a bargain right now.

Maybe a bit less so with the XBox compared to the PS5, since it's going for 50-150 over MSRP on Ebay, but it's still a bargain.

            No it's not…

It just means you found stock.

      Jv you've done it again!

      • -2

        I got a PS5, not an Xbox.

Don't know why the downvotes for jv
      He has a point

        Don't know why the downvotes

        It's all the Dan supporters.

        They always downvote facts

          they used to downvote jv…

@RimofLeo: They are paid to do it using public funds…

            • @jv: JV's probably immune to it now, they've probably experienced more downvotes than the number of comments they've posted… Such an OzBargain legend lol

  • Confirming mount druitt had received 33 units, 2 days ago. Not sure how many left now.

    • +2

      32 is my guess.

Is that how we play this game?

      • +4

Is that including the one that got returned and the two on layby?

  • +4

They are in stock because scalpers are not profiting much by selling these…price on gumtree is $800, consider the time and effort to pick it up in store there is no point. But good for real gamers that can actually buy it in retail price.

    • +3

You wouldn't drive to a store for $300?

      • I'm almost certain he's talking about the Series X, which is $750.

      • Op changed the title, it was Xbox series X so I refer to that one

    • +9

They are stock because no one wants this.

      • +1

Honestly I have an Xbox series X but I play it on a 1080p TV.

I got mine from telstra All access so it was really an extra 10 bucks a month for it. I think I would be happy having the Series S as well as right now it makes zero difference to me. In fact I might grab one in the future when it is discounted for a second machine.

        • +1

There are differences now actually, though whether those differences would matter on next gen games on an 1080p screen in the long run is yet to be determined. Will assume disc is not an issue (because of GamePass):

          • Backward compatible games (which you will be playing more for now): Series S is locked to XBox One S code path, meaning a lot of the games won't even do 1080p (not because series S cannot, but the XBox One S code path is designed for XBox One/S).
          • Some people felt 4K supersampled down to 1080p is still better.
          • Already some 3rd party games targeting dynamic 1080p for Series S.

Unless game streaming really takes off, or AMD's Direct ML turns out to be amazing so once utilised, it will really boost the resolution and framerate. However, the biggest issue with Series S is price.

      • they are in stock because they only just had new stock dumped in stores and they aren't advertising them.. I had to go up to the desk and ask. They aren't available online or out on the floor of the store, but sure have a go at them if you like.

Or maybe Microsoft released more Xbox consoles to deal with the demand than Sony did?

If OP posted about using the WW 10% off him/her cards together with the Zip 10% off Saturday to then walk into a JB and take this away with effective 19% discount I'm sure there'd be some other catchy way to bag him out.

      Thanks for the info OP.

    • Isn't it great when we get notified of an RRP product it's in-stock amazing 🤣

      and

      patience

are two words millennials won’t understand.

      • +13

Why are there always idiots claiming certain characteristics are endemic of certain generations. It's pure nonsense.

        • +3

          Typical millennial denial

      • +5

That’s three words. Guess you were a bit impatient when you made this comment - you missed a word ;)

  • +6

Xbox is not that hard to get. Ps5 is on the other hand.
I think a guy was getting a Xbox s X on Wednesday from jb, when I was getting ipad for my kids.

  • +4

This isn't really a deal but I went to get my son a tv ..

+1 for the intro; a proud ozbargain tradition!

  • Looks to be on Amazon as well in case anyone is looking for delivery - https://www.amazon.com.au/Microsoft-RRS-00021-Xbox-Series-Co…

I had a small dump at JB once and was promptly asked to leave

Made me burn my mouth with my coffee and spit it all over the table.

      Have my upvote my friend

you should have looked at them in the eyes to assert dominance and make a bigger dump.

Gah… the Amex Microsoft $80 cashback is about to expire, and no sight of the Xbox Series X available to purchase directly from the MS website. :(

  • +2

Someone has pointed out these are in stock at quite a few places.

  • +14

$500 for this isn’t a good deal. When the $750 version is so much better and more importantly future proof. This is at the similar level as the last gen consoles which can be pickup up for a lot less than $500.

Too expensive for what you pay for.

  • Salesperson said stores have had a small dump of stock

seems like they had big massive dumps

  • +3

    OZinstock ?

  • I have to admit, it's a sexy little unit. Had a look at the display model in jbhifi.

    • +1

only if it could deliver true 1440p performance with ray tracing…

      • It'll take time before games run their best on it, just as with all generations.

    RRP is not a bargain

Plenty of places getting stock. Enough of this.

Like you said, not a deal

      • +1

        wtf does +ve neg mean

        • +2

It was definitely a quest to interpret it. It means it gave all neg vote comments a plus vote.

  • Might look at Xbox S/X when they release Flight Simulator. It is frying my PC at the moment.

    Full RRP isn't a bargain.

Shouldn’t posts about informing people on stock be in forums and the like? Why are back in stock now being listed as a bargain? It’s just informing of back in stock and hence forums

  • +3

    This isn't really a deal

    You said it yourself.

  • +3

I wasnt trying to ruffle feathers as I know this is a bargain site. I just thought if anyone was looking for xmas pressi like I was it would be a good heads up.

    • +1

Eh let the haters hate. They're not happy about the consoles and graphics cards being posted over the last 3 months at RRP. But at the end of the day it is what it is, I had to join bloody telstra just to get the xbox series x since they are the only ones which had stock! And I hate telstra!! Got my xbox sent out and cancelled with them swiftly ;)

  • Microsoft is going to get lots of sales just by being in stock!

X is more powerful too, and most kids wouldn't know the difference between a PlayStation and an Xbox!

It's even tempting for me to make a switch, but I do like the PlayStation controller.

  • "This isn't really a deal"

Would you like a cheese sandwich?

It isn't really cheese, it's laundy soap but who's bothered…

  • This should be in the forums as PSA. Not a bargain.

  • +1

Wish they had trade in.. going to wait for eb stock

  • There are a bunch of Series X at Broadway JBHIFI! (about 15 when i bought one)

  • +1

I know this was RRP, and not strictly a bargain (okay, not even loosely a bargain :P) but I managed to find one at the Narellan store. Thank you OP!
