  • Does this store your finger print information?

  • Can I use this with PayPal on windows or just the windows based logins?

    • Depends on the APP, if app works with Win Hello then should work, should work with LastPass etc.

  • [Easy to Operate] No driver needed, easy to operate. With Smart ID encryption, it secures your personal data in one easy step. Tip: please make sure the first installation is under good internet connection.

Hmm from above looks like no driver needed but requires additional software to be installed to work with Windows 10. OP is this correct or is the device plug and play? Want to get one for work laptop but everything is locked down so can't get anything which will require it's own software to also be installed.

Plug & Play! super easy and just works.

    • Did this work well on your Locked down PC? I have the same scenario where the PC is locked down. The instructions found for this device say you need to configure some aspects in Windows10 for it to work.

  • Thanks OP.. Will give this one a try.

  • Windows only :(

Is the Kensington Verimark at $55 any better? Considering its a security device, is it worth spending the money on a known brand? Of course the Kensington does other things like 2 factor authentication etc. But I will be mainly using it as a windows hello login on my PC .any thoughts and opinions will be valued. Thank you.

    • +1

I dont think this Sunrose will do that anything aside from unlocking pc.

Google instructions for using the Kensington as a security key for your devices.

      https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6103523?hl=en&ref…

Kensington is better if you intend to use it for 2FA. This is good only for unlocking laptop, pc etc

Surprisingly you can set up phone as a secondary device for 2FA on PC

  • This is great, but I don't know if it's worth it to sacrifice 50% of my USB ports for one of these, but if it works for secure logins with other services, then it might just be worth it

  • I fkn hate windows hell-oh.

It's an irritation on a desktop. I have a password that I want to use. I DONT want a pin. I don't want anything else. GRR.

You can disable it. Method 1 for Pro and Method 2 for Home.

      • Thanks. It was new when I installed windows and the only workaround was to hard reset before it finished setup. It's left me alone for the most part. But this looks like a real solution which is better.

        • The trick with setting up a new Windows Home device is to not connect to the internet at setup as it'll force you to use a Microsoft account instead of a local account. That's how I avoid Hello

where do i get the 10% coupon?

  • I personally went for the Eikon Mini USb Fingerprint Reader For Pc which was previously on Amazon for about $31 as well. Pity it's no longer in stock otherwise I'd recommend it given it works really well with Win10, and it's got an angle on it so you're not pressing your finger on an awkward side (although it depends on your computer's USB port locations/etc).

  • $31… I thought more like $3.10.

Also I think this will be difficult to use with desktop computer.
Have 2 USB ports on the front but the computer is under desk. Also only the front USB port is USB 3.0 and 1 is broken / loose.
So this means leaving this finger print reader plugged blocking the only high speed USB port.

Otherwise plugging into the back of computer in one of the slow ports means you have to crawl under the desk every time to use finger print reader, this sounds too silly.

Seriously? There are about ten different solutions to this problem.

      • Yes comment below suggested using USB cable to connect that would work but a bit awkward with just loose cable (cable can also easily fall behind desk so you have to crawl under desk anyway).
Also another option is plug it in to use, then remove after, but I think this will wear out USB port.

The luxury is I guess you just tap your finger instead of typing password to sign into computer. Still $31 is expensive for this.

      • Yeah… Another workaround would be to use a keyboard or a mouse with a fingerprint sensor compatible with windows hello is…these would be very easily accessible to your fingertips. I can't comment on any as I haven't used any but I car across this info while reading reviews in my quest for a reliable windows hello fingerprint scanner.

    • Use a USB hub that sits on your desk or a USB 3.0 cord

      • In my experience USB hub is terrible. Many different ones had issues with connecting to devices, and also often corrupt memory data (USB drive / SD card etc).

I was going to comment this on a few USB hub deals but thought maybe new ones fix this issue so it is bad comment.

    • For desktop, it would also work well if your keyboard or monitor has a pass-through USB on an easy to reach place.

      • It is an almost 10 year old computer. Maybe other user is thinking it is a new one like you say many USB port is available on Keyboard / Monitor, but I only have a few on actual Desktop Tower case under desk.
(4x USB 2.0 on back all being used, and only 1x working USB 3.0 on the front which I use to plug in HDD or USB stick)

        • Yeah… Another workaround would be to use a keyboard or a mouse with a built-in fingerprint sensor compatible with windows hello…these would be very easily accessible to your fingertips. I can't comment on any as I haven't used any but I came across this info while reading reviews in my quest for a reliable windows hello fingerprint scanner.

    • Did you do the exchange rate calcs on that one? Works out about $4 cheaper and you have to wait 6-8 weeks to get it. Personally, I think I'd pay the extra $4.

      • I got the welcome voucher and took the faster shipping (8 to 20 day), cost USD 18.03 on my card

Couldn't get it to work. Wasn't PnP at all… tried the ELAN Fingerprint drivers but still wouldn't install in Windows 10 Pro 19042.685. Thanks to Amazon for a quick and easy return/refund process!!!

  • The one I purchased from Aliexpress works a treat on the Lenovo S540 for fingerprint login - driver installed with windows update. Very fast to login.
