Would this be any good for the new Chromecast with Google TV dongle?

    • Looks like it has DC-in via USB-C so should work.

    • +2

It does work but you need to enable the developer options and disable the USB audio routing. (I got the 9 in 1 and I had to do this. Otherwise, the audio is not going to work)

      • disable the USB audio routing

Just want to know what is it about? Google TV can extract sound from USB-C port?

  • Thanks. Anyone recommend a power brick for these?

  • +4

Bought 1 previously. On full load(when all ports were connected) this device became too hot and became unresponsive. Will be returning shortly.

    • thanks, will not buy

  • Thanks OP, was just looking for one of these for the wfh setup.

  • +1

Both do 4k resolution at only 30Hz…..Eugh!
Save your eyes and your money if looking at 4k options.

    • Any recommendations? Need something for my usb c laptop connecting to the popular 2k xiaomi ultrawide monitor.. my dell dock d6000 not working for the dp port

      • I've been looking at one of the "cable matters" thunderbolt/usb-c to displayport ones - the USB ports are only 2.0 (enough for a kb+mouse), and the ethernet port is shit, but they supposedly do 4k60hz reliably. https://www.amazon.com.au/Cable-Matters-Multiport-DisplayPor…

I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, but the reviews seem ok. And when I was searching for a good adapter, I found an article by one of their tech guys on why most adapters are crap.

      • Yeah, you kinda get what you pay for, unfortunately.
I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B085SX8Z7Z/ref=pe_2361882_28238… when they were on special.
Works well as far as I can tell.

  • It notes the usb c port is for PD charging only and not data, and reverse for the usb a ports so data only and not charging.

  • The CHOETECH 7 in 1 is 10% off atm so making it $33 or so

    • I've had several bad experiences with Choetech products and their "customer service", albeit they were 'charging' related products.
Maybe their multi-IO devices are better…I don't know. They've lost me as a customer anyway.

The cheap devices all suffer the same issue though - 4k is only at 30Hz. Gives me headaches in no time.

  • Does anyone know why the second monitor goes fuzzy when you plug into HDMI on these types of hubs?

    • possibly because its at 30Hz and not high quality. are you running it at FHD on a 24" monitor?

      • I tried it on a 42" 1080p. When I plug the HDMI into the laptop directly it's fine but when I plug into the hub and the hub into laptop, the second monitor goes fuzzy and slow with the mouse movements. I should mention my hub is not this one exactly but a uGreen - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07RW343WG/ref=ppx_yo_d…

  • I have 6in1 usb c hub and has ethernet port, work well. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0859TMPHT

    • If you're not doing 4k they're prob. okay, but 4k is only at 30Hz. Gives me headaches in no time.

  • Grabbed the 9 port
