Where exactly is the bargain here?

$799 for a 2.5kW MHI at Bunnings. Sure it's $100 dearer and no WiFi, but it's a quality brand with a proven track record.

Can't exactly say the same for Midea….

      Hi Stewy

      Thank you for your comment.
We have been getting alot of feedback from our customers comparing MHI VS Midea.
We want to assure our customers that Midea air conditioners will go beyond the 5 year warranty.
That is why we have provided 5 additional years parts warranty to all our customers.

Agreed. In my opinion, For the work or cost of installing a split aircon it just isn’t worth getting a low tier brand to save couple of hundred bucks. You’ll lose money in lifetime and efficiency and it will be also be louder, less reliable and less intuitive to operate. Better just to get a Panasonic, mhi, Fujitsu. If you can’t afford a decent one then you can’t afford a rubbish one in the long term.

      • Hi Sillyhead

Just a brief description who Midea is they are one of the largest manufactures in the world.
As well Midea has taken over for Toshiba. I can explain a long story about it but i have Provided a link below.

The link you provided is a news site owned by Chinese state run media.

      • I note you say MHI, would that include Mitsubishi Electric? I think there has been some discussion about them being two separate entities previously?

a quality brand with a proven track record.
That would describe Midea. They're one of the biggest, perhaps behind only Daikin and Panasonic?

      • +2

Biggest does not mean best. Panasonic are a prime example of that. Sure Panasonic are good value, but they lack the refinement of some other brands.

Another example would be GREE. Their box A/Cs dominate the Australian market but suck compared to some of the brands that used to be around in the past.

Midea don't have anywhere near the track record that the Japanese brands have in the Australian air conditioning market.

Agreed you can get the better brands for the same price on special from most retailers wouldn't even touch this.

        Hi Tank evil

We are providing a Additional 5 year parts warranty could you please provide a link of the other brands that will do this?

    • +2

The $799 MHI also has a $100 cashback right now…

      • Do you have a link for these deals?

These are the Canstar Blue ratings and reviews for air conditioners. Can't see Midea in the top brands.
Mostly South Korean and Japanese brands as well as Kelvinator.
      https://www.canstarblue.com.au/appliances/air-conditioners/
      MHI came out on top.

By the way, Midea receive hundreds of millions of yuan in subsidies by the Chinese government.

"Midea is a major Chinese manufacturer of appliances. Recently the Company established an Australian retail operation to sell direct bypassing mass retailers who had rejected the Chinese brand"

I know Midea, huge Chinese company manufacturing appliances such as Fans, fridges and aircons.

From my experience, the quality is ok, I would rank 70 out of 100.

for cheap brand lowest ill go is kelvinator which is electrolux….. dont know how the ACL will work with AC in the event 6-7th year its dead…
i was hedging for hisense or even haier… but hisense being new in the market end of 2019… JB Hifi is a big backer for haier
TV and othet white goods i have had a good run with ACL laws getting it fixed though…. just my 9cents.

even mhi has 1.7kw split which is maybe a box of beer extra?

    • I have a Haier 7kw back to back reverse cycle system which was 3 years into a 5 year warranty when it all of a sudden stopped working. Contacted Haier and thought i was gonna get screwed but they came out with a technician the following day no questions asked no payment. They are great to deal with. I can certainly reccomened Haier. Their after sales service is great.

  • Hey Rep, Im keen on getting a couple of units. I'm guessing these have a bright hidden display similar to Hisense models. Can you confirm if it is possible to turn the display and any lights off?

    • Hi nomad628

I will confirm tomorrow for you.

    • Hi nomad628

I’ve spoken with Midea and yes their is a button to switch off the display light.

What is market rate to get 1 of these installed? I'm getting quotes from 800-1000 range which is more than i'll be paying for the unit, not sure if it's due to seasonal pricing
Does anyone have any referrals to any reputable installers that charge fairly?

    • Hi Sunnyboys2

Please email us at [email protected]
With all your details and we can get you a quote for installation.

  • Wondering how much would be DUCMI170 delivered or installed in Adelaide?

    • Please email us at [email protected] we will provide you a quote.

  • Went to your website.

It has logos of Samsung, LG, Haier, Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch & Fisher & Paykel but when I press buy online it only have Midea products?

So do you sell those brands or just Midea?

    • +1

      Hi Airpoe

We are a repair/service company as well those brands are a indication of which brands we repair just to name a few.
But atm we only sell Midea products.

      • thanks, wish you sell other brands as well

While China put a ban on our exports we still buy/import from them. Go figure!!!

    • +1

I feel, as Australians, we should steer well clear of China made stuff - only because they are threatening our economy

      • Maybe if we make enough noise, other countries may increasingly take a stance against bully China.
        https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-17/australian-trade-tens…
Buy Japanese, Korean or Kelvinator and I do realise many of their products are made in China but at least the profits don't go to Chinese companies like Midea who receive hundreds of millions of yuan in subsidies from the CCP.

        • +1

Majority of the Japanese branded stuff is not actually made in Japan. ME, MHI and Daikin I believe mostly manufacture in Thailand, whilst Panasonic is Malaysia. Undoubtedly the Japanese will still implant some of their own nationals to manage the factories.

I'd still buy these over a Chinese AC any day of the week though.
