Navman Cruise650MMT 6" GPS $179 + $30 Cashback via Navman @ The Good Guys

120

Price is the best current price I can see, but I managed to better the deal via 5% Officeworks match. I would check stores if going to OW as they likely have limited supplies.
Don't know the supply levels at The Good Guys, but it is in a current catalog.

  • I would also try and get mine at officeworks for the L.p.g and the easier return policy.

  • Both potential buyers of this are now considering smartphones

Not everyone wants to use their phone as a GPS. I'd rather have a dedicated unit that does more than the phone can. Each to their own.

Agreed and I would expect these to be more tolerant to heat from being in the Sun (if on dash) or left in the car.

      • Waze app on the phone is fantastic

I don't think any dedicated GPS can compare to waze.

Never needed a dedicated GPS since waze was released.

Hell what phone do you have? It sounds pretty retro.

Also good to have an effectively autonomous option. No app, no cloud, just a built-in map and GPS reception. Connecting it to anything is optional.

When not everyone is on their fulls so using a mobile is illegal.

      • you suppose to dock for it and not use it while driving
except after pulling over to the side.

this applies to all license holders

        • +3

People should not to use it as GPS unit while on Ps as the law stated.

If anyone needs more clarification on the laws of mobile phone use at least in NSW. It does not matter if it's docked or not, it is against the laws to use it for driver's aid unless you're full license.

        • +3

Wrong. P plate drivers can not use any fucntion of a mobile phone whether it's docked or not. This includes GPS functionality. That's in NSW anywa.

Silly rule, but that's the way it is.

Waze keeps locking up on my s10 and technically not legal for P2 in vic. It’s either this or a new CarPlay/AA head unit.
