Amazon gift card mistake purchase

Advice needed. So I bought $300 Amazon gc on Sat making using of the Zip promo.

But I just realized if I used it on my account the whole balance will be stuck to this account and it can't be used for any other accounts.

Is there any other way to rectify this error? I called customer service and at first they said the remaining balance after using it can be used with other accounts. But later they changed their mind and confirm it's not transferable.

So is my only solution to refund it at Auspost?

No chance of a refund on a gift card.

    • Ah ok. Thanks. Guess im stuck with this, I'll just wait until I need to use it on a big purchase

There are many things you can buy on Amazon, $300 is piece of cake.

    Just…use on that account?

  • Where did you buy the giftcards and in what denominations?

Why would you want to put it in separate accounts anyway? You can still buy multiple smaller things with it can't you? Why do you have to buy one expensive thing?

I sign up to new account after my prime trial expires in two months

      • Oh ok that makes sense. Or just buy at least $39 worth at a time to get free shipping without Prime I guess.

If you haven't redeemed the gift cards, you may be able to sell them with 10% off in classified forum.

Or get a amazon prime membership (if you haven't), and just use it for your groceries. Usually amazon do price match with wws as well as other stores.

    • Ok thanks for the suggestion. Will try to sell them if I can't use it to buy smaller denomination gift cards like the person below suggested

Uh, once applied to your Amazon account just use the Balance to buy Amazon Gift Cards to whoever you like.

    • I can do that? Using gift card to buy gift card? That's awesome thanks!

  • How many Amazon accounts do you have :/

So far maybe 5 or 6?

      • why?
        Just scamming amazon prime trials?

I find for the price, amazon prime is a no brainer and churning through trials just seems like too much effort considering how cheap a yearly prime sub is

  • 10% off in the grand scheme of things is only $30. Surely you'll see something on boxing day to use up some credit on.

  • Why would Australia Post refund them?

    • Because:

      1. The vibe of the thing.
        (The Castle)
      2. Australia Post, we deliver.
      3. It is Christmas and Santa says so.
      • Op: ‘…And can I just say how disenchanted I am with our legal system.’

        (Also the castle)
