Looks like a great price. $10 cheaper than Bing Lee and cheaper than previous deals before it.

Edit $132.05 at Officeworks via Price Beat if you get there early (before they update their prices, usually mid to late morning?).

Available in store, click & collect or $4.99 delivery.

Edit 26/12 10am: Now $11 cheaper at Harvey Norman

Edit 29/12: Now $20 cheaper at Bing Lee

Great option for anyone who needs extra space for their Xbox Series last gen games or quicker load time on their Xbox generation consoles

  • Gonna buy one for ps5

Yeah T7 is what you would want to run on PS5, you'd be wasting your coin unless you can't afford it rn and are really desperate for extra storage.

      • How so?

      • +2

        This is incorrect.

This drive is perfectly fine for storing and playing PS4 games on PS5.

You cannot play PS5 games on external drives until they activate the M.2 slot.

    T7 is better for ps5

    • How so?

      • -2

Pretty much double the transfer rates for less then $100. Not really shouting for extra storage atm, so hopefully I can pick one up for under $200 soon.

        • +1

Double the transfer rate does not benefit you in any way for PS4 games. You cannot put PS5 games on these drives.

      • Looking at one rn @ amazon via US for $220 (which is a great price!), again not desperate enough atm.

+12% Amazon cash back at 9am
+10% Amazon gift card from Zip

You’re looking at a pretty good deal

          • @drakdaystar: Indeed it is, I only have afterpay and humm.
            At under $180 it's a top deal!

I'm pretty sure you can't store PS5 games on external drives

  • My T5 1TB is way slower than a WD elements spinner.

Try using the USB-A cable, some computers run their USB-C ports at only USB 2 speeds for some reason. I get 300-500MB/s copying stuff to my T5 from a Kingston A2000 nvme drive. My spinning disc drives max around 150MB/s

      • Yup, the T5 is plenty fast if you’ve got it plugged into a USB 3.1/2 port

  • Great price! I think I paid $330 same time last year for the 2TB model.

  • +1

Good model for upgrading storage for the PS4 Pro?

  • Is it possible to remove this from it’s cage and put it in a PC?

  • Thanks OP - picking up another 1TB one :)

  • Bought a T7 for $190 for the PS5.

Will now get this T5 for the XSX. Thanks OP.

  • Any deals on 2TB? Need one as another backup for my photos

Such cute little things and super fast, got one hooked up to my HP EliteBook USB C getting 290 MB/s transfer from the internal SSD.

    • +1

They're okay, they do around 300-500MB/s on my laptop over USB-C depending on what I transfer but the internal transfer speed between my two nvme drives is around 1.2-1.6GB/s so quite a bit slower than nvme drives. (These old T5 portable SSD are msata drives)

If you want the fastest you need to buy a m.2 nvme ssd such as the 1tb A2000 and put it into a 20gbps usb-c nvme enclosure. Similar pricing but just a bit longer form factor so not as tiny.

Price war! Harvey Norman now selling at $128.

    Will Amazon price match this?

2TB Versions on sale for $299 as well at bing lee

    https://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-2tb-t5-portable-ssd-mu-pa…

1TB not as cheap as this deal posted.

  • Trying to justify buying this. Why would I want this over a newer version or SSD + SSD enclosure?

  • +1

Looks like the price just dropped to $128 at hardly normals https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-t5-1tb-portable-ssd-…

    • How to do refund?

      • Take it back within 30 days
