This seems to be a bargain if you are aiming for a 16GB laptop with Thunderbolt 4, 11th gen chip (low power, better built in gpu) and long battery life. It also comes with a pen and has 3 year on-site warranty which is amazing. The correct part number is 82BH0055AU for the 14" model and 82BJ003NAU for the 15" model.

I just bought the 14" model for my daughter which starts high school. This seems to be the unicorn of laptops that has 16GB ram, 11th gen CPU, 2-in-1 with pen and thunderbolt 4. The only downside is the 300nits 1920x1080 screen which is not that bright but good enough for her.

Thanks for the post - I'm looking for a new laptop for a 2021 Year 7 student

    Confused:

    Heading - Lenovo Yoga 7i (14")

Body of post - Display Type: 15.6" FHD

  • Ive had my lenovo yoga for 5+ years (with the watchband hinge) and it has literally been the best laptop ive ever brought. Had no issues with lenovo service and cant fault the 5 year old product. I did spec it back in the day… maybe thats why it has lasted so long

    • I have a Yoga 460 i7 of that vintage which has been faultless, except for the plastic cover on the on switch which broke.
However, I can still start it by pressing the little round button under it with a sharp object.

  • Does it have a touch screen thanks

    • +1

Yes, as stated in the specs, 10-point Multi-touch.

      • Thanks you so much

the 14" display is 300 nits

Apple air M1 with optional upgrade of 16gb ram/256gb ssd (not sure if 512gb SSD is a deal breaker) costs $1709 for education pricing and have $249 airpods free as well. Isn't that a better deal ?

The new Apple M1 ARM chip looks promising and Microsoft is following soon with their ARM x64 emulation. But it all depends on the BYOD Policy of the school. Each school is different unfortunately.

I had to buy her a new laptop due to the touch screen and pen requirements. My daughter’s school (QASMT) BYOD requirements are:

      PC or Tablet PC.
Screen must be able to detach or lie flat for stylus use.
      A stylus must be supported.
10” screen or higher (measured diagonally) – consider portability and weight
Screen must be able to detach or lie flat for stylus use.
Intel i5- Minimum requirement AMD A4 or higher
      8 GB or higher
      256 GB SSD or higher
      Windows 10
NOT SUPPORTED: iOS, Android, Windows RT, Chromebook
Dual-band wireless capabilities (5Ghz required for school network) AC Wireless Card
Keyboard, USB port, headphone port, In-built microphone, webcam
Minimum of 10+ hours battery life. Please note it is school policy to have a fully charged device at the beginning at each school day. Students cannot charge their device through the day.
      Under 1.6kg is recommended

      • Wow, seen it for the first time. There must be very few options then for windows laptop with 10+ hours battery life.

To their defence they have a BYOD deal through JB Education but the three laptop on offer are all 10th gen so I didn't want to waste my money on old technology with only 8GB of ram. The recommended laptops were:

  • Solid specs. Any RAM slots on these? Or is everything soldered?

    • Soldered unfortunately as most other 13” and 14” laptops.

    • You are comparing apples with oranges.

A 1.8kg dell 10th laptop without touchscreen but dedicated Nvidia gpu compared to a lighter Lenovo 11th gen 2-in-1 touch screen laptop. It really depends on your requirements.

  • The 14" model 16Gb is out of stock.
Lenovo only stock 20 units or what?

  • Dang both are gone, this is almost a perfect 2-in-1 for me (Ryzen would be better, but it takes an eternity for those models to make to AU).
