More bandwidth and no bs 'discount'

I'm afraid you won't get a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU with NVMe SSDs on those plans.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • BinaryLane has 2FA.

      • Correct you won't get that CPU from any other server provider because it's a desktop processor and is not compatible with server grade chipsets and motherboards.

        • It's a CPU that is in high demand in Australia and the rest of the world. It is very common in newer VPS nodes due to its performance and customer demand. If you prefer, we can place your VPS on a node with an Intel Xeon CPU if you prefer. We have both Intel Xeon CPUs (E-2236/E-2136) and our Ryzen series CPUs which we have integrated into our regular VPS range instead of having a new price point for it as that is a common practice for high performance nodes and CPUs such as the Ryzens. The Ryzen CPUs are the new standard for VPS nodes and is something that many customers look for when searching for a VPS provider.

          Regards,
          Nathan

    • Good to see competition, stay positive :)
      - ServersGalore is not too crowded and a better storage speed (hopefully it's the same in the future)
      - binarylane have more bandwidths, brings more value for your pocket

it depends what you do on the vps :)

Can I use this for Quest 2?

    • If you mean Oculus Quest 2, then no.

  • +1

Great service from these guys. +VE from me.

  • I'm looking for hosting for a perforce server. Do you have any servers with regular large/slow/cheap TB storage?

    • Have a look at B2 or Wasabi storage probably cheapest and reliable TB storage you can find.

      • For perforce it needs to be mounted as local block storage.

        • Wasabi/b2 is S3 compatible, there many program that can mount that as local share/mount on windows or linux if that matters.

          • @[Deactivated]: I've used a variety of them, they tend to work via caching and uploading files, but don't work for databases.

            • @McSpidey: How big is the databases? It could be cheaper to host database on your own hardware and have cloud backup for redundancy.

I personally never recommend using S3 services for large databases due to their slow io but S3 is great for off-site backup solution.

If you looking for large NVME access, probably get better deal talking to a few VPS or data centers, then off the shelf plans.

Is there any redundancy on the storage?

    • Hi, all of our nodes are set up in a RAID 1 configuration.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • Awesome, I'm with OVH but have been looking to move. I like what I'm seeing :-)

        • That's good to hear, we are very proud of our services and support. It would be great to have you aboard :)

          Regards,

  • Hi Nathan,

Any deals on some cheap shared hosting as per the previous deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/592068

    Thanks!

I've gone ahead and created "HOST50" which will give you 50% off reoccurring on any of our 3 Web Hosting plans, enjoy :)

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • just saw this, and I will grab onto this tonight, seems good!

      • Excellent. Thanks Nathan!

  • May I ask what Data Centre it is in for Sydney. We looking to put our secondary, however for redundancy purposes we want to make sure its in the same DC.

    • All of our Sydney nodes are in Equinix SY3. In Melbourne, we use Equinix ME1.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • If it's in Syd, what is the "Gigabit Connection (10Gbps in London and New York City Metro)"?

        • All of our nodes have at minimum of a gigabit connection but we are expanding into 10Gbps connections and London and New York City Metro are our 2 first locations to have 10Gbps ports. All other locations, including Sydney, have a 1Gbps connection.

          Regards,
          Nathan

          • @ServersGalore: Ok, cool and can we get CPanel and WHM (or equiv)?

            • @nessism: All of our Web Hosting is cPanel and all of our KVM VPS is SolusVM at the current time.

              Regards,
              Nathan

              • @ServersGalore: Ok, any recommended meaningful way to test speed (ping + WP serving) on any of the shared or 1gb VPS, against my current shared accounts?

                • @nessism: I'm not entirely sure what you mean by against your current accounts. I can provide a test IP in Sydney for you to ping and traceroute if you'd prefer. All VPSs have a stable 1000Mbps download and 1000Mbps upload around the clock. Would you like me to do a speedtest from one of our nodes for you?

                  Regards,
                  Nathan

                  • @ServersGalore: I meant, all my sites are Wordpress, I'd ideally like to test by not only pinging, but also by seeing how much faster a given site, say default WP, would serve on the VPS (coz if it aint much faster, then there'd be no point) :)

                    • @nessism: It all depends on the site, plugins, themes, number of pages etc. You will definitely have a performance boost on a VPS if its a medium/large site or you just like the extra control. We do have many large websites on our cPanel Web Hosting that run perfectly fine and have no problems but its very difficult to say on an individual site. Its best to try out what you think would most fit your needs and if it doesn't fit, then you'll always have the option of getting a VPS. Our Web Hosting nodes are hosted on NVMe SSDs in RAID with a 1Gbps port plus combined with CloudLinux, you get a very snappy site 24/7. With a carefully selected hardware and software configuration, you can have cPanel hosting be as fast if not faster than a VPS.

My opinion is always to go with a VPS if you have multiple sites or are tech savvy. If you just want a site up and running with little to no experience or time, then our Web Hosting is the way to go. There is no need to worry about maintaining the server or site as its all done by us. If you have the time and knowledge to manage your own VPS and like the control then I always suggest a VPS.

                      Regards,
                      Nathan

Signed up and clonezilla'd my VPS from another provider. Was up and running in no time. Definitely feels a bit snappier.

    • That's great news! We love to hear back from our new customers about their experience :)

      Regards,
      Nathan

Do these VPS' have anny DDoS mitigation?

    • Yes, we do have 20Gbps of DDoS protection however, if you are expecting any DDoS attacks or they are frequent, you may be asked to get additional protection as we aren't a DoS/DDoS provider.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • Just for peace of mind. Thanks for clearing up. Very appetizing deal.

        • No problem! If its just for that additional protection then you'll be all good :)

          Regards,
          Nathan

  • I've just ordered a KVM-16 in Melbourne, and I've been advised that there's no room and additional servers are being installed in the next couple of days.

Really looking forward to playing around with it but do be advised if you need a server now there may be a slight delay.

    • I rearranged a few of our machines and made room for yours. In Melbourne, we had around 30GB of RAM spread across the nodes and I didn't have enough on a single node to deploy your KVM-16. I moved a few of ours around and made room to deploy your KVM-16. We are still waiting for servers which should be up by Tuesday in both Melbourne and Sydney.

Theres room for some smaller servers but until we have the new servers up, you might have a delay ordering anything above a KVM-8 until then.

I'll update this when they are up and operational.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • That's awesome, gotta say the service has been great so far.

        • Thats great to hear. We've now got another server in Melbourne ready to be used :)

Its a Ryzen 9 3900X with NVMe SSDs in RAID.

          Regards,
          Nathan
