  • Prices are maybe not as good as they seem to infer. (as the OP says - they are "normally" $99.95 not the inflated $395+

Here is a review from an Amazon customer of Invicta watches

Before you read - its not a criticism of the product, just the way they are marketed as being 80% off. I am posting this as an information piece only.

I own several Invicta watches, they have all kept good time, aesthetically pleasing, and simple to operate for the most part.
Battery life is also pretty good, and it's worth noting that you can extend the warranty directly with Invicta online to protect you purchase.
A word about the MSRP…… Rubbish basically, I have never seen these watches, or any of the Invicta range even close to the suggested price shown here, even from main store retailers, in fact this is born out by the fact that Costco and Sams club carry a wide range, and their prices are similar to purchase price here. They are good value for money, just don't get hoodwinked into believing this watch is in the $500 range, it isn't.
Like most of the range the face is pretty large, with the crown it comes up at just a sneak under 50mm or 2", so consider that if you have slim wrists.
It's probably politically incorrect to say a "mans" watch, but that's certainly the style, large, chunky and robust, easy to see characters, and crown guard is a nice touch.
As I mentioned before battery life is good, they are Swiss made, with a quartz movement, this one is rated to 100m for water resistance, which means it's probably OK for swimming, and most water sports, I wouldn't trust it for Scuba though. Also if and when you have the battery replaced you will need to have it pressure tested and new seals placed to maintain the water resistance, that in itself will probably cost as much as the watch, so these tend to be wear and discard purchases.
The waterproof rubber strap is thick and durable, clasp is strong, and straps to hold the excess strap look well made.
Overall I gave it 4 stars, they look a lot more expensive than they are, and have an "expensive feel". For the same price or less than a store bought Timex or similar, you can't go wrong really.

another…. somewhat more bizarre Amazon review includes…

To test this claim of 200 meters I built a cylindrical concrete tower that tall and with an inside >diameter of, of course, 40.7 millimeters. Then I filled it with 3.66659088 gallons of imported seawater >and dropped the watch down to the bottom and waited a couple three hours, which I figure is about as >long as you're ever likely to stay at that depth unless your name is Aquaman, which it's legally not >because it's trademarked by DC Comics.
The formula for the volume of a right cylinder is Pi r^2 h, where r = radius and h = height.
      = Pi * r^2 * h
      = Pi * (4.7 mm ^2) * (200 m * 1,000)
      = Pi * 22.09 * 200,000
      = 13,879,556.34 cubic millimeters
You can take my word for converting from 14,000 cubic millimeters to 3.67 gallons, or you can calculate >it yourself just to see whether I'm right.
No matter what, the point is that upon retrieval from the bottom of that 65-story column of water the >Invicta 10664 watch continued to work fine.

      http://www.amazon.com/Invicta-10664-Collection-Bracelet-Rubb…

Someone with a lot of time on their hands perhaps…..

  • Invictus make watches which would be considered pieces of crap for the price even when not going by massively overinflated RRP. Buyer beware.

  • A watch that is water proof to 100m can't really be described as a diver's watch. Even some G-Shock watches that are rated to withstand 200m depth are not referred to as such.

Nevertheless, some unwary buyers seduced by the discount off the inflated MRRP will take the plunge.

    • A watch that is water proof to 100m can't really be described as a diver's watch.

The 'diver' watches in this deal are 200m resistant

  • this brand is a joke

  • Watches pricing is generally pretty all over the place because it's judged almost entirely by looks over function. Having said that for the original RRP, you would expect either the frame to be titanium or more importantly the dial front to be sapphire crystal.

    • and also that due to mobile phones the watch market is way down.

I love this watch.. Got mine from 1-day for about $140 and its the cheapest you could get in AU for a timepiece like this.. Yes they have not been popular ever since the swiss company was bought by an Amercian company, but I love what I have.. I tried to order one from Amazon as well but they didnt seem to deliver it here.. Are deliveries now open for AU? Also can you plase post the direct link… Many Thanks
