  • Hi All, my credit score is 640 from Finder and Savvy. I only had one credit card ($6000). Do you think that I can apply for this? I dropped massive score since I got rejected from Citi three months ago. Thanks

  • Does paying school fees by bpay or in person as credit count as an eligible purchase?

    TIA

    • +1

I've used school fees before and it seemed to be eligible

      • But it says BPay is not eligible

        • My depend how the school processes cards, I don't think ours mentioned bpay

  • Is it not meant to ask you if you already have an ANZ account to log in first then apply?

  • After few rejections in the past few years, finally it is approved. Possibly after I sold my investment property recently. Wow

  • applied last night and immediately received email asking for payslips.

submitted 2 months of payslips this morning.

received sms with credit card application accepted about 30 minutes after submitting payslips.

didn't have to speak to a single person, all online.

Not sure where the issue is for others, but clearly something in the application can send you into the difficult process described by some

if you don't set that off, it is very fast and easy.

    • congrat!

      • thanks mate how did you go?

        • applied Citi, not sure between this or recent HSBC deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604095#comment-10079756. i dont really need QFF points, i have sold mine in the past not keen to repeat, can use to buy some gadget at Q store but probably not the wise thing to do.
          prefer giftcard or cashback

          • @CyberMurning: Why not both ? I also applied for both.

            • @yht: i can do two cards not 3, citi approved and now the hsbc looks like a target offer so may go with anz

    • that sounds good, never that lucky for me with ANZ, maybe I don't detail enough my spending ? not sure

  • Is there any lounges access with the platinum card ?

    • No lounge access, only complimentary Qantas FF membership.

  • Near exact 24 hours from time of submission to Approval

  • Rejected once again because they deem that I don’t have enough “disposable income” 🙄. I’m done applying for cards with ANZ.

  • looking at t&c,
Eligible purchase means purchases which are eligible to earn Points. Purchases which are not eligible to earn Points are described in the ANZ Frequent Flyer Reward Terms and Conditions, for example fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes will not earn Points.

Don’t forget that a minimum spend of $2,500 within the first 3 months is required to receive the 75,000 bonus Qantas Points. Eligible purchases cover most transactions, with the normal exclusions of fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming.

a bit different from other cc provider (that give bonus when opening and spending) usually they will say about Bpay or similar are NOT eligible.
anyone can confirm we can use BPAY or pay any utilities bills and still counted into the minimum $2500spending?

    • If BPAY is not eligible, then maybe try the sniip app?

      • yup thats the round around way. 1.5% fee which is not too bad better than nothing

  • Now am I better off getting this card or paying $200 for the black and getting $45,000 more points??

    • I’m also 103k points off points club plus which gives me qantas club membership. 220 days to get 103 k points so could churn another card.

  • I got declined as soon as I applied on Wednesday…tonight I received a call from ANZ wanted to confirm my income… I told them I was declined and the person said they wanted to confirm the income as I might not be declined on the end…so sent 7 payslips and now I ll wait…weird…

  • How many payslips do they request? Or how much time period?

    • One was good enough for me - but it mentioned the YTD earnings which I think they use to gauge your pay?

      • yeah or else they will ask for the past 3 months of your payslip

        • +2

I am paid fortnightly and I was asked 7 payslips

  • Applied on 9th approved today. They sent a text saying someone would call me to proceed the application but that never happened

  • got mine approved within 3 days after i just had to send payslip and will get card in 5 days

  • Applied on Friday 19th (just after midnight), got email confirmation and submitted payslips that same morning. Missed a few calls from them that afternoon but they called today (Monday 22nd) to verify some details. Approved over the call. Probably would have been approved same day as I applied had I picked up the phone.

  • Got approved, haven’t got the card yet. Got a letter from anz saying I need to join QFF to accrue points. Thought it was complimentary?! Hmm

  • Got the letter, Card and Pin today, but the letter doesn't mention about the offer ? I assume they are still doing this thing for years, it. not telling us the offer.

    • +1

Bonus offers are never stated in the paper with you receive sadly

  • Is there a way to pay off your credit card bill via bank transfer? Only way I can currently find requires mailing a form to them to set up direct debit?

  • Anyone got a top tip on what to swap to if you already have this card and looking to get off before annual fee kicks in?

  • I got approved this time, I was rejected last time for ANZ black card. I'm banking with ANZ for daily account anyway so I didn't have to supply payslip etc.

  • Anyone know if additional cardholders incur any fees? The ANZ page says "Additional cardholders (at no additional cost) Up to 9 ($65 annual fee per cardholder)". No additional cost, but $65 annual fee per cardholder? Isn't it contradictory?

    • That's a separate fee paid to Qantas I think

  • I can't seem to find the bpay details to pay the credit card on either the app or internet banking?

  • Has anyone been rejected for the FF black and then applied for this card, and was successful?

  • +1

Initially got rejected, so waited for the letter to come. Pretty generic letter but it did mention credit ratings. So sent an email asking for an explanation as my credit rating is over 800. A week later got a phone call saying its approved and to supply a couple of payslips. So still not 100% done with the process, but looking good (touch wood).

    • +1

Received email confirmation that card is on the way.

    • What was the email address you sent it to? Got my letter and it sounds similar to what you received. My rating is also over 800 so want to give it a go and see what happens. Thanks

  • +1

Does ANZ have a universal monthly start date or something?

Got the approval email 10th of Feb and been using the card and just got my latest statement for 25th-24th of Feb.

Do I have 2 and a half months to hit the 2.5k spending now instead of 3?

    • I have the same question. Got my first statement only after 2 weeks.

      • I didn't even up finding an answer for this since I posted.

Is your billing period the same as mine?

      • same here…received card 25/4 and first statement 6/4-5/5 due date 31/5

  • +1

customer service completely useless, said they can't access my application and i have to wait for a call. been waiting over over two weeks since I submitted all the documents - even had a credit check on my file but no contact.

    • +1

I am in the same situation, the credit card call center team is in India, cue to COVID they are all working from home, the best part is they don't received inbound only can do outbound - frustrating

    • +1

Similar situation - I applied on 04/03 and submitted all documents and now have a credit check on file. I missed phone call and a text from them the following day, but now I can't get back in contact to find out what additional info they need.

      • +1

I would suggest sending an email ([email protected]) with your application reference number in the subject line, asking for an update.

        • Finally got through via email

      • I reached them on messenger with name and application number and I got a call back De days after. The 2 previous emails sent were ignored

      • Did you manage to get yours sorted mate? I got a phone call from them today saying it should all be ok and they made a mistake on my application.

But because they denied me last week, now I took a 48 point drop in my credit score and an enquiry on my file :/

        • so I was called back, they asked me again all spending and earning, and they told me I was not approved…so now my hope are on my partner's application…but they are not very responsive either….

          • @Gooddeal21: Hopeless. I'm chasing up with Experian too in case they approve, but they've dinged my score with another enquiry. Should have known better since they did a hard enquiry last time I was with them for a credit card.

  • Just got an email from them saying I've been rejected, and that a letter will come in the next seven business days stating why.

Bit of a joke, considering this is the first time ever I've been knocked back for a CC, and my credit score is currently 825. And has been hovering at the 820-825 mark for the last two years.

Anyone else have this ridiculous experience?

    • +1

Sorry to hear about the rejection.
Have you recently started a new job or moved residence?

      • yeah moved house like two months ago. had the same job for three years and earn 100K before-tax.

wonder if can go in-branch and sort it out, or is it purely over phone/email

        • +1

Maybe the move tripped their algorithm, only they will know.
I think some people in this thread have tried calling.

          • +1

@forrester: Will wait for letter in next week, otherwise will just email them. If that don't work, then will ring.

Reading some of the comments here and it's a bit of a joke where they get knocked back, when folks have a pretty good credit rating / income / reliable payments etc.

Will pursue it cos a knockback means a decline in credit score etc, so may as well give it a shot.

            • +1

@adrianhughes1998: Good luck and let us know how you go!

              • @forrester: Update: guy called today and rechecked what I entered for my finances in my application. Reckoned that it had been filled out incorrectly on one point.

Said that he doesn't see a reason why my application should be rejected, and to give it 3-5 business days for them to be back in touch to approve it.

If not, then email them back again, he said.

            • +2

@adrianhughes1998: Let us know the outcome mate

              • @cathalm8: still nothing mate, called them twice now and the local Aussie ANZ guy promised a call-back. Same with Facebook Messenger chats. still nothing but crickets.

    • -1

Your credit score won’t be that high now you have an enquiry/rejection….and the fact you need to declare that rejection to some credit providers :(

      • Are you sure? Thought it only dropped a few points. Anyways I'm pursuing and see how it goes.

        • +1

Rejections don't show, only enquiries. And I've never seen a credit card application that asked about rejections.

It's not out of the question, but I can't recall it throughout all my churning.

          • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Well just checked my credit report with Experian today, and I've been dinged 48 points this month. Cos as you said, it's been recorded as a credit enquiry by ANZ.

If I'm successful in reversing my denial, does this mean that the credit enquiry be lifted and I get some of my credit score back?

            • @adrianhughes1998: It was recorded as an enquiry because it was an enquiry.

Again only enquiries are recorded, not rejections (or approvals). Whether you are later approved by ANZ is irrelevant to the enquiry.

              • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Ok interesting. Not sure why for Citibank and ANZ I've had enquiries, but AMEX and St George I haven't had enquiries recorded at all ..

                • @adrianhughes1998: What are credit enquiries?

Common CCR Questions: Why aren’t all my credit accounts appearing on my file?

3 reasons why you may have different credit scores

As a general suggestion, stop obsessing about credit scores. It's unlikely that banks give a flying f about any numerical score, they just want to see the info on the credit report (which you can obtain for free, having recently been denied credit).

There probably won't even be a numerical score in the report, just a list of accounts (including repayment info) and enquiries.

                  • @UrMumsOnlyFan: CreditSavvy uses Experian as the credit reporter, and I have been using the Finder app since last year (who also uses Experian). The credit score and the range it is in is always listed in there. As I am applying for a home loan in the next year or two, I just want to err on the side of caution in case these factor things like scores in. Repayment info and enquiries are listed in the Finder app too, that is pulled from Experian.

That being said, just read those links you provided and fair points about spacing out time between making credit enquiries (i.e. applying for credit cards), in order to make it look favourable. I hear that leaving credit cards open longer to show you're paying them off (even if they have been paid off completely), can jack up the score. After all, like you said, the score can be meaningless depending on the lender.

UPDATE: Just received a text message this morning say I've been approved for the card. This is after one call-back from ANZ "India?" on the 18th March, and no email correspondence or follow-up calls, despite me asking maybe five times on five different occasions.

Asked for a call-back via Facebook Messenger a few times, left a comment on their Facebook page publicly, rang the ANZ Australia local team last week as well.

    Persistence pays off it seems.

    • +1

oh thanks, there is some hope here, my partner applied over 6 weeks ago, payslips were sent, nothing back, pinged them on messenger…still waiting

      • I still haven't received an email confirmation either just a SMS. So hoping it is the real deal.

Good luck mate, I'd just hammer them. They either have a backlog or something , so just keep going.

        • they finally called back, sent another email with other stuff to verify…almost 2 months since we applied…fingers crossed

          • @Gooddeal21: Keep going mate, hassle them on Messenger and publicly on their Facebook page , worked for me

  • anyone received their bonus points yet?

    • We finally got it approved, after almost 2 Months so we ll have to wait a bit more for the bonus ahahaha. Usually they are pretty quick though with the bonus

    • Still waiting also.
It's been a month since you posted, did you have any luck?

      • Yep got it in 2nd month statement 2 days ago. Spend criteria was met in first month itself.

  • Anyone know how I can close my account via the ANZ app?

I would like to avoid going into a branch if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    • not sure on the app but on the website, on the left you have an option "request account closure"

      • Thank you for your reply. I have thus far avoided signing up for online account access so was hopeful of doing it through the app! Looks like I'll have to talk to a human, sigh…
