expired Harman Kardon SoundSticks III ~ $167 Shipped from Amazon.co.uk
This was posted 1 year 5 months 19 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
SoundSticks III are the latest model of Harman Kardon's SoundSticks 2.1 speakers, now with detachable cables and an updated design. They typically retail for $249 in Australia, but just be aware you'll have no local warranty if you buy from Amazon UK.
I think these are fantastic speakers for the price, but feel free to debate this in the comments.
Price is $167.39 if you chose to pay in Australian dollars, otherwise GBP 105.91 (you can save a few dollars if you use a 28 Degrees MasterCard or other card with no/low international transaction fees). Shipping is with DHL and takes about 3-5 days to Australia.
Update 1: Also available from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-Soundsticks-III/dp/B0042...
Price on Amazon.com is $155.73 using expedited shipping, which takes about 3 weeks to Australia. Amazon.co.uk is a lot faster (as quick as 2 days to Sydney), so I'll leave both options up.
Update 2: Some are reporting they've seen it at JB Hi-Fi for $199 or less. Possibly a better option with the benefit of local warranty.
Update 3: Price has gone up on Amazon.com. Price is still the same on Amazon.co.uk.

+2 votesThe Creative Gigaworks T3 gets good reviews and is $189.95 at Staticice last time I checked early December. Also Swan is a lesser known company that makes higher end speakers and have 2 2.1 computer speakers at different price points. The M10 is $155 and the M50W is $325 ($10 delivery) from myav.com.au.
I decided to bite the bullet and bought the M50W recently. Though I'm no audiophile, the sound quality is excellent and I am very happy with them. I also bought the M10's for my mum's chrissy present and though I haven't heard them yet, she is very pleased with them too.

soakwashrinsespin on 01/01/2012 - 20:21 ¶Do you happen to have a link to a catalog or a receipt? Was at JB Hi-Fi in Prahran and the cheapest they'd do after haggling was $230 (ticketed and online price is currently $249). Someone on Whirlpool also mentioned buying them from JB Hi-Fi in late November for $249.
soakwashrinsespin on 01/01/2012 - 20:56 ¶Updated the post to mention JB Hi-Fi. I'd probably have paid $199 with local warranty if the sales guy had offered it at that price (I even mentioned Amazon's price to him), but I definitely wasn't willing to pay $230, since I think there are probably better options once you get into that price range. :)

I remember this speaker set first came out with the original iMacs ~1998 - yep the crt candy coloured ones. So even though these are newer models and I'm sure have all sorts of improvements I still see them as an old iMac speaker set so the design and translucent plastics hasn't aged well in my mind.

I disagree with Michegianni when it comes to sound quality, while lacking midrange, I find the soundsticks quite pleasant to listen to.
The problem I find, and read about on the interwebs, is that they aren't built to last. My set, 18 months old, have had both speakers literally fall apart- the binding between the front and back panel is very weak with no screws holding the plastic together! Now they rattle with any bass :/
For $170 you can't go wrong, but buyer beware!
+1 voteApparently its a figure 8 power cable as per OP (used by and interchangeable with many devices). It will undoubtedly be a UK plug fitted, but Aussie figure 8 power cables will fit so no problem. You may have a spare lying around the house. Or you could buy one for about 8 bucks: http://www.powercablewarehouse.com.au/power-cable-2-pin-figu...

"Please note that the price of Harman Kardon Soundsticks III has increased from $118.54 to $140.27 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages."
Prices at Amazon tend to fluctuate a lot, as this price tracking graph for the Soundsticks shows: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Harman-Kardon-Soundsticks-III/pro...
Price on Amazon.co.uk is still the same though, so that's the better deal at the moment.
