Watched the whole vid, the end where he say's the controller was so expensive he's gonna milk it for a part 3, then segways into a sponsored message made me burst out laughing.

      • hahaha yeh i think in the first one he lets is slip… costs something like 48k or someting

        • +1

That's a lotta money. Pretty sure he's gonna auction it off anyway afterwards, probably even make a profit after labour.

is this basically the best controller for PC (windows) ?
whats diff. between s and x.. same price

    • +2
      • Yes, these work with Windows and are plug and play without the need for additional drivers, and all the buttons (Xbox guide / Share) buttons work as intended on Windows

      • The only new addition is the "share" button, and a nicer D-pad.. Aside from that, design has not changed all that much. linus tech tips review

i just want to have a good controller if one day i decide to play sega capcom etc emulators

        • +2

I personally find the newer Series X/S controller less fatiguing for my small hands than the previous Xbox One controller.

          • +1

@jace88: I like the way the buttons click compared to the old one.

It's not 2010 anymore. Most controllers work fine P&P on PC now. Steam will also use PlayStation buttons in most games if you're using a PlayStation controller.

What is straight out of 2010 is that the controller still uses AA batteries to run it

what do you mean S or X? do you mean xbox one and xbox S/X ? … between one and new gen the new one has a share button and textured grip which is nice .. slightly different D-pad .. other than that no difference…

and IMO yes best controller to use on a PC … but yeh get the new version at the same price.

      • oh sorry noob here i thought there are 2 controllers version S and X … haha actually S X refer to the console not pad….

        • same controller for series S and series X :).. just a slight upgrade from xbone version… :)

        • +2

There’s more differences than what scud mentioned such as the new gen controller being smaller and having shorter triggers. Have a read of this thread for more opinions between the One and Series controllers https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/juznbw/how_much_be…

Clearly many prefer the One controllers.

          • @MiscOzB: i'm sure there is :) … but i cant tell the diff aside from the grip feeling better .. although im just casual gamer so that's no surprise… thanks for the link :)

Best controller for PC - probably not because there is also the Elite controller.

Differences between this and previous gen:

      • Share button added
      • Shallower trigger buttons (some people feel they are stiffer)
      • Redesigned D-pad
      • Different texture grip (better)
      • USB-C instead of micro USB (still runs on batteries though)

Generally, it is considered better than last gen's. However, a small percentage of people prefer previous gen controller's trigger buttons.

      • It’s also smaller than previous gen.

What about stick drift? Have they fixed that yet? : \

I've had issues with the Series X controller over bluetooth on both of my PCs. Keeps disconnecting every 30 seconds. No problems with the Xbox One or 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ though.

      • +1

Do you know the Bluetooth chipset on your PC? Does it happen to XBox One/One X controller too (if you still have one)?

        • It happens on my B450 Pro Carbon and B550 Aorus Pro AC which both seem to use Intel wireless network chips. Could be the cause. Xbox One controllers are fine, including the Elite 2. It's just the Series X.

      • thats a windows issue I think, been around for ages - you need a wireless adapter for PC, works like a dream

    • +1

new x model is def better and more refined, if I didn't have the elite v2, this would be my choice easy

if you have Telstra points btw you can get them pretty cheap there - not many points = free

  • Controller with USB-C Cable $84.15
this is more expensive because of the included cable only, right?

    • +1

Yes. To be fair, it's a good quality USB-C cable that's quite long, but if you're gaming on PC you can just plug in a BT dongle and won't have to use a cable.

It boggles me that eBay Plus offers Express Post included to some locations but not others (like WA)

I need my Pulse Red controller expressssss so I can sit it on my shelf with my other controllers and never use them!

  • how about customisation? can i program one of the back button do to combo for example the finishing moves in street fighter game?

    • That's cheating :) Instant disqualification from Street Fighter tournament.

      • haha some games are too complex. so comes with software or not?

how about just make one button as turbo (when playing emulator game flight shooting)

    • +1

Yes you can. Get an Arduino and use your electrical engineering skills to wire up a circuit to do it. People have done it to XBox 360 controller before.

Or, send it to me and I will mod it for you (and will throw in free smoke effect for free).

      • okie sorry for asking the imposible

  • +5

You have to to be joking. Bought last night with a toothbrush to get $10 off $100 purchase.

    • +5

      You must be frothing.

      • always follow the ozbargain rule .. don't buy unless on sale !!!

    • If it is a big deal, buy one now, and return what you bought last night.

      • +5

Nah, I don't roll like that. I just whinge and move on.

  • If you're using it with the Mayflash Magic NS adapter (for the Nintendo Switch), this controller is too new as there's no firmware update yet for wireless support.

  • -5

Pulse red. Ugliest color on a controller in history of gaming.

    • I didn't neg, but I love it!

    • +1

I'm literally going to buy it cause you said this lol. Let's see hey 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • Alright well, controller received. The verdict…

      Red is sexy!!

Though the ugly part is the fact the back is white. Should have been red or black.

        Time for some DIY

        • Time for me to play earth worm Jim on the mega drive again!

  • If you are planning on using these with a PC make sure to update the firmware first.

    • Care to elaborate?

      • Apparently for people who have issues with bluetooth connectivity, Microsoft is recommending upgrading to the latest firmware and try again.

Also, when you setup Series X for the first time, it would prompt you to upgrade the controller firmware.

        • Ahh, I see. I've only ever used it wired myself, and if you only ever plug it into a PC you won't get that prompt. You can still update it manually on PC by downloading the 'XBOX Accessories' app.

  • +1

Just a heads up, I've had this issue with mine (it's a blue one), hopefully MS has fixed it in the reds

    https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/jt8jw3/xbox_series_x_…

    • I received the red one today. No sticky trigger.

What a ripoff!! Still uses same old tech from previous generation! Shouldn't cost more than $40…MAX!
