I’ve been tempted by this deal, no local warranty etc much bigger device but 5G if that’s important to you, $450 plus postage…

    • Nokia is solid. Doesn't need warranty

My Nokia 7 Plus would have been nice to have a warranty. Power button + USB C port were shonky after <12 months and the grey market I bought it off was sketchy and I couldn't end up getting it fixed.

  • Those reviews aren't great.

This model is plagued with a proximity sensor problem. Screen goes black when calling. viber etc. It's hardware related.

  • i had the 7 plus and the usb c port came loose, quality is a bit of the a worry with the nokias

I have this phone, a hand-me-down from the Minister of War and Finance. Specs initially looked solid, but have been let down by its day to day use.
    - huge issues with Android auto and not detecting USB connection (even though it will charge)
    - Bluetooth problems
    - the aforementioned proximity sensor issue
    - the stupid Google Assistant button that can't be disabled.

I bought mine last December from JB HiFi. Main problem I found was that it shuts down on its own. Happened around 5 times I pickup the phone & find it has been off.
I have been using it with android auto and don't have any issues. Are you sure it's not the cable? I use a new cable every 3 months or so, has been the case with my old phone as well.

Brand new cable. Cable works on 3 other devices with zero problems. Phone charges, and does a quick charge, but just won't connect to car.

Is the phone model number TA-1196? I actually found that Android auto is faster & reliable with my new Nokia. Probably should return if it's under warranty.

huge issues with Android auto and not detecting USB connection

Not to detract from this phone's issues, but Android Auto is notoriously picky about the cable you use. I have tried heaps of different cables and phones, it's almost always the cable.

Gave up and invested in AAWireless (crowdfunded) and should arrive next month, hopefully that puts an end to the temperamental AA connection.

    • I came from an original Pixel to this phone.
Like you, I thought the specs were solid, and being as close to unadulterated Android experience without getting Pixel, these were all positives.
It lasted about 3 months but constant buggy implementation of HW / SW was terrible!!!!!

      I've now got a Pixel 4a.
Sooooo much better - faith in Android is restored.
Avoid this phone at all costs.

  • Had issue on another nokia, charging port needed replacing.

    • USB-C? That was common for micro-USB on real Nokia's before Microsoft shut them down.
