  • Very good price for aussie stock I reckon
DWI has the same kit for $549 + free shipping but again it's not aussie stock.

  • $25 cheaper than JB Hi-Fi when delivered and coupon applied.

  • Hi rep a very good deal..any deal for the 550d + 18-55 + 55-200
    please..

Don't forget magic lantern once you've got the 550D:
    http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/550D

    • Does Magic Lantern work on the grey imported equivalent Kiss X4?

      • is there a reason it shouldn't. All 550D were made equal

I got mine(18-55 kit) from DWI @$620 including 3 years Mack standard warranty, which removes the only reason I would go for aussie stock(warranty)

But pretty good price for people who want to support aussie companies

        • The Kiss X4 only has Jap + English language options.

I'm not sure if it's only software based, but I haven't seen any tutorials on flashing the firmware to the 550D one.

        • You think the language options are hardware based?
I'm 99.999999999999999999999% sure that Magic Lantern will work on any 550D you care to install it to.
The developer is developing using a 550D so it's VERY well supported.

        • Well, I've seen people try flash the 550D firmware onto the Kiss X4 with success, only to find the camera still recognises the camera as a Kiss X4 with only 2 language options.

And I had a look. Magic Lantern works for the Kiss X4. So all goooooood :)

  • sweet deal for aussie stock, REP any deals for the 60d body?

    • I'm guessing they won't have any stock. And if they do they can charge a truck load for it :)

  • Thanks Rep! the closest i could find was $479 for body only on ebay, but hongkong stock ;)

  • Great price interested if you are going to offer this in a dual lens kit, I need a travel camera that will work with the rest of my canon gear.

    503- service unavailable ???

  • Is this site legit/trusted?

  • It is a great Camera-we got ours from overseas last year and it is brilliant. (we paid to much) :-(

  • Thanks CameraPro! Keep the deals coming, I want to like you.

  • Cheaper at Kogan: http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/canon-eos-550d-kit-single-lens-…
But prolly not Aussie stock there. However, comes with 12months Australian warranty.

    • $648.00 shipped to Sydney from Kogan.

    • thing is with kogan you can't even get mack warranty because they are not authorised dealers for canon. DWi/eglobal and a few other companies are authorised hence more trusted sources and better future warranties

  • Purchased, thanks camerapro!

    • Received today, awesome delivery time - 1day from Brisbane to Adelaide!

Hi CameraPro, can you please offer a special deal on the Canon S100. I want one :)

    • This would be nice!!

  • is this a good camera?

    • Can't you ask google?

    • Yep.

  • Hi, I have no knowledge at photography at all so please ignore my silly question. Is this better than 1100D: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60341

No knowledge at all so I only judge by model number which is 2x this one - :) lol don't laugh.

      Hey, its confusing at first.
Canon goes by number of digits

      1. XXXXD Beginners eg 1100D
      2. XXXD Prosumer eg 550D
      3. XXD Semi_professional eg 60D
      4. XD Professional damn expensive cameras eg 7D
      • -1

I wouldn't consider the 7D a professional camera. Very good, yes, but not professional.

Pro would be 5DMk2 and above all having a full frame sensor.

        • +1

It was a generalisation. Someone who doesn't know what the model numbers mean isn't going to be buying a 5D mark II anytime soon. The examples I gave were just off the top of my head and I wasn't trying to be accurate about the tag(eg 7D is more semi-professional than professional)

Also trying to use all the different numbers ;)

      • Hey spawnpoint, thanks. And in the number of digits, do higher number means better? eg. if there is a 660D would it be better than 550D ? And 2100D > 1100D for example?

  • I'm new to DSLR is this Canon D550 better or the Nikon D5100?

    http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EOS_550D-vs-Nikon-D5100

I checked this and it says 5100, of course D5100 is more expensive but is it worth the price tag?

    • I'm no professional, but I'm told if you are into video, go for Canon, and Nikon for photos.

Of course DSLRs are mainly for photos, but if you believe you'll be looking into taking a lot of videos, Canon 550D can be very powerful with the Magic Lantern mod.

  • Sorry, I am totally new to photography and happened to see this deal.

With my b'day coming up it would make a cool gift from my gf…. Anyway, I have looked at Shopbot.com.au and the camera appears to be listed as low as $412 - http://www.shopbot.com.au/m/?m=Canon%20550D&order=hl&page=22 - but I take it they are all Asian sourced, which is why we are paying a premium here ($555) to get an Aussie model?

Also, is this a good quality, good value SLR camera for your average punter?

    Cheers!

  • Rep, I couldn't find the lens kit deal on your website - do we need to order that on the phone?
