Asus Eee PC 1000HD, which currently sells for ~$650 according to ShopBot, is on special at GetABargain.com.au for $384 (+$11.95 AustPost delivery to Sydney, not sure about other cities).

Specification:

  • Operating System: Genuine Windows® XP Home
  • Display: 10"
  • Intel CPU & Chipset: Intel® Dothan 353/ 900MHz
  • Memory: 1 GB (DDR2)
  • Wireless Data Network: WLAN: 802.11 b/g
  • Storage: HDD 80GB
  • Camera: 1.3M Pixel
  • Audio:

    • Stereo speaker
    • Digital Array Mic
  • Battery: 6 Cells, 3.2~5 hrs

That's cheaper than my original Eee PC 701 that I bought earlier this year! Hopefully this is not a typo as the price on GetABargain.com.au is a bit weird (like this Acer Extensa 5620Z with RRP of $945 but on special at $955.43 (!)).

  • I think this is a typo. i hope they honor the price.

  • DOES NOT WORK.
Once you go to pay via paypal it says "Total with Postage:$721.71AUD"

    So… yeah … no deal.

    From paypal

    "Description Unit Price Quantity Amount
    Get A Bargain

Item Number Asus Eee PC 1000HD Black (EEEPC1000HD-BK004X)
    $705.76 1 $705.76
    Item total: $705.76
    Shipping and handling: $15.95
    Total: $721.71 AUD"

  • Well. Forget it. 20 minutes after I posted this the price has reverted back to $697. Should have taken a screenshot. Definitely not a bargain in this case…

  • yeah, was about to jump in, but hit refresh and the price had revert to $697. would have been a sweat deal.

  • I caught it before the price reverted. We'll see if they honour it. I doubt it.

  • Well, they didn't. That was quick.

Seeing that you can still purchase it at the full price (hence has stock), I don't see why they can't honor the sale price. Although I did not make a purchase myself, your reply seems to me like they're finding an excuse for their mistake. If they're honest, fair enough but to give such an excuse, I'd have to include getabargain.com.au in my black book titled "Dodgy Retailers".

      • Dodgey

      • Well, I'd be happier if they just said, honestly, that it was a pricing mistake, instead of pissing on my boots and telling me it is raining.

  • yeah exactly. they're under no obligation to sell it, they may as well have been honest.

  • Don't you absolutely hate it when they use a cheap price to get you interested and then… Makes me wanna stay away from those retailers forever.

  • hate it when retailers lie!
