Long Term Domain Names, for US $4.95/Yr from NetworkSolutions.com

140

$4.95 for a new .com, .net, .org, .info domain name. The deal here is that you can register at that rate for up to 10 years. I've registered a .net for 10years @ $4.95 a year. I have not seen this sort of rate in any of the other big providers, local or OS.

I've seen a heap of first year prices beat the pants off $4.95, but you always get smacked on the subsequent years.

I did notice the final page to be a little buggy when pricing in the discount. I just removed all of the domains I didn't want, and the price came good.

  • What will happen to the unused years if the domain registrar goes bust?

    • Good question, I've no idea. (I'm not affiliated with networksolutions.com)

Must have happened in the past to someone? I'd imagine you just transfer it to another registrar.

This is probably one of the oldest registrars on the net. Been open since 1979. I'd imagine the customer base would get sold off to another company but I'd say the risk is of this is quite low.

Network Solutions is the ORIGINAL domain registrar.

But anyway, since they are ICANN accredited, it's irrelevant whether they go bust or not. Think of it this way - If the original real estate agent goes broke, do you lose your house?

  • They are an ICANN accredited registrar, not just a reseller, so it shouldn't be a problem.

  • private registration costs $10/year

    • yeah I thought that was a bit rough too. I just altered my details once signed up, to remove my email/phone/address from the whois. I'll also add a nondescript name to the account for the contact to remove my name.

if you don't have valid registrant details you risk losing the domain

  • Cant seem to find the $4.95 promo on the website. Currently its showing only the 15% off which equates to USD$29.742 per year for a 10 year sit.

    Am I missing something??

*EDIT: Ahh … has to follow the link on OZB instead of the website. REF: http://www.networksolutions.com/RV19.jsp

    • i went through it up to the payment stage @ $4.95/year. $10/year privacy kills it for me though. and they try to upsell you at every step.

1and1.com offer $9.99/year with free private registration

  • was recently bought for almost half a billion.. so it'll probably be around for a while:

  • good deal if it's $4.95

i think 10 year registration is ideal because it saves you from accidentally losing the domain
(i just scored <myownname>.com after someone let it slip.. after waiting/watching 5 years!)

however, from a cost perspective it probably doesn't matter because in 10 years:
I'll be richer, earn more, domains registration should be cheaper.

      • haha.. actually.. wouldn't mind stitchy.com as well
if you're willing to watch it for 5 years I'll pay you at $42/hr

  • I have been with them for a long time.

Tried to renew but this price is not available for renewals!

    Pity!

    Good deal for new domains.

  • Its a good deal but I think these guys are cheaper!

I currently use them, no problem and it comes with alot of additional extras networksolutions.com wanted to charge you for.

    Free WhoisGuard Protection
    Free URL & Email Forwarding
    Featured DNS Services
    Full Domain Control
Security Features …. to say a few :)

Also on a side note, if you follow their Facebook page, they have discount offers available all the time. I bought my domain for just 99 cents US! :D

    • Free WhoisGuard Protection

not free, or maybe free for first year only, less you can show me another deal

  • why does it say its 34.99 for domain registration when i use the above link ??

    • Looks like the promo has expired.

      • I just tried "dydhfg.com" and it came up as 4.95. Are you sure you clicked through from this page or used http://www.networksolutions.com/RV19.jsp. Doesn't work if you go direct.

        • mine comes up with a big banner for $34.99
Searched for a few domains and when you add to cart it's $34.99 + $9.99 for Private Registration for Domain Name

If i click the Network Solutions logo it directs to the home screen (not the $34.99 splash screen) and when i go through selecting a new domain and it still comes up with $34.99

        • Weird.. tried with my desktop and firefox, and got page you described.

Tried again on my android tablet, which I used before my last post, and got the $4.95 page.

Looks like its starting to expire!

  • I've marked as expired, but YMMV as its showing up valid again when checking on my tablet (android).
