Rechargeable Batteries (C/AA/AAA)

Looking for some recommendations for decent value rechargeable batteries.

Will mainly be used in kids toys etc. Don't need to be high performance or anything. Just good value is key.

I have been using the Aldi branded ones, but they aren't available any more and I need more!

Looking for AAA, AA and C sizes.

Suggestions and feedback much appreciated.

Cheers

    😴

  • Aldi have their batteries on sale this week AA and AAA, good quality for general use. $9.95 for an 8 pack.

    • I'll check to see if I can scoop some up. I'm sure they won't last long.

      • If you're sure they will not "last long" then why do you want to "scoop some up"? I thought you wanted "decent value" batteries, presumably meaning cheaper but also hold charges.

          they will not "last long"

I presume they mean that as in the product won't be available/on sale for long, not that they won't hold charge.

Ikea's LADDA is also a favorite to here.

    • Unfortunately the closest IKEA is around an hour's drive away, so not ideal unless I'm heading that way anyway.

They deliver now? But I assume shipping might not be great.

Boy, did you come to the right place!

I didn't know ALDI no longer had theirs? I'll admit I haven't been looking recently, but have always assumed they were near the checkouts.

Yea they've not had them at the registers at any of the 3 stores near me for months.

      • Thanks for that. I'll keep an eye out on my end. Good luck in your search. But yep, my experience has been the same as the others. ALDI's for the price and easy availability.

Eneloops and IKEA Ladda as well. In fact, that's all the rechargeables we have at home.

And also, I haven't bought C size batteries in ages. I've made do with the little adapter cases for AAA. They work well enough, especially since we hardly have any stuff that uses C sizes.

      • A sad day. I ask my local Aldi and he said they don't have them any more, I asked if he meant just my local, or all Aldis, he said he only knows he hasn't seen them in a while there. So now, thanks to your post, it appears it's all stores…

I picked up two packs each of 8x AA and 8x AAA this arvo.

Noted the AA are rated at 2400 (2021 manufacture date), the older ones I have are 1900 (2018 dated), both made in China.

Current charger doesn't do capacity testing, but I've ordered a new charger that does (and also charges C size), so I might do some testing when it arrives.

          • @dheywood: Maybe just temporary supply issues then! 👍

            • @John Kimble: Nah, these aren't the normal 4 packs. These are 8 packs and just part of the weekly specials.

  • Eneloop from Costco.

    • Unfortunately no Costco near me.

  • The problem with the Eneloops for C battery applications (with a size adaptor) is that they don't hold anywhere near as much as a dedicated C sized rechargeable battery.

    • I might give some of these adaptors a go before investing in some C batteries. My application may be fine with smaller capacity and just recharging more often.

  • Catch just had a deal for Eneloops recently not sure if it's available though
