Wow refurbished earphones…good price but ….brings out the germophobe/earwaxophobe in me.

"Used toothbrushes, used toothbrushes for sale…, very cheap"

  • Pretty poor reviews floating around for this unit. Kind of understandable given that they based on infra-red tech (though in general, wireless headphones tend to produce poorer sound compared to wired alternatives)

  • Hmm I wonder if refurbs come with new pads

  • I ve just bought 2 and let you guy know what it is like next week.

looks like an ok option if you just want something that does the job, and quality is not so important. but i would be a bit wary of the sound quality using infra-red tehcnology (wired > wi-fi/kleer audio > rf/fm > ir). also note that they are open style headphones, meaning sound will leak in/out - if you are buying them to avoid disturbance between two people in the same room, then you're better off with closed headphones (particularly since the the advantages of open headphones will not be significant in a headphone of this quality).

personally i would go with at least rf/fm technology (ideally kleer audio/wi-fi, but they are pricey). i got the Sony MDR-RF925RK (rf, 40mm drivers, rechargeable battery with nice charging stand/base) for my gf, and am surprisingly impressed by the sound quality. they were $90 at Costco about a month ago ($150 at JB)…they might still have some.

or, the two-pack of phillips rf ones for $99 at officeworks looks like a decent deal if you have a need for two pairs (ie. if you want to watch tv with a partner without disturbing others). not sure about the quality on them.

or if you really want quality, get the sennheiser ones using kleer audio. they will be the best quality, but will also be a lot more expensive!

but yeah, this looks like a decent deal if you just want something cheap for the convenience of wireless!

    • great summary, thanks.

Bad. Just passable for listening to podcasts, watching Dateline, or as a throwaway set for young kids.

      • cheers for the review…happy i went with the sony rf ones!

    • Thanks guys.

I was looking for a pair for my brother's (belated) Christmas present. It was between these Sonys and a pair of Philips HC8540 which I found on ebay for $75. He liked the look of the Philips so ended up getting that pair…they're an older model but hopefully they're ok.

  • Seems to be a good deal. Make sure you have some hydrogen peroxide handy. The thought of someone elses ear germs mating in my ear is what puts me off from the deal.

It's probably ok, but its' just me. Well I have used recycled toilet paper before :-) (Toilet paper made from recyled paper, I hope)
