May I ask, Is yours the 40 or 44? If is 40 is the visual display area comparable the S3 42? Is series 3 42mm worth buying or pay a bit more for the SE 40? I find 38mm too small so prefer 42 but the 40 has larger visual display, if they are comparable then I might return my S3 to office works and get the SE 40 instead.
The SE 40 is better overall as you get the series 5 chip, brighter OLED display with smaller curved bezel (the series 3 has a square bezel hence smaller display) and fall detection. You miss out on ECG and blood oxygen but if that it not your thing the SE will have a longer life with software updates and performance.
I have the 44 because I'm a techie and I like it, but the 40 (size of S3) would be quite fine, but you'd be best served by checking it out yourself. It's the only way to tell.
What is the battery life like? Would it easily survive a day with somewhat heavy usage?
It's hard to say when it comes to what "heavy usage" is on a watch. It wouldn't last as long as my phone if I used it all day, but you likely won't. I certainly don't ever run it flat in a day even if I use it frequently. It's certainly on the good side of adequate.

For anyone looking at the SE 40mm white or dark grey note that there is limited stock available and no shipping option. It only gave me the choice of Caringbah or Auburn pick up which is a PITA for me. Says stock is meant to be coming in soon. Little Birdie code also doesn’t work for Apple.
Stock seems to be non-existent in local/nearby stores. This is a first for TGG.

I can't speak for the deal but the Apple Watches are very good. I have the Series 6 and it's excellent, coming from the 3 which is also still good.
