Is the HDMI 2.1 on this TV working fine for PS5?

    • +3

Nope. None of the promised 2.1 features have been released yet.

      6 months after initial release.

      • +2

Are you sure? I thought they released the HDMI 2.1 for 4k/120fps like 4 months ago, but just haven't delivered on the promised VRR/ALL features.

      • -1

        That is incorrect

    • I have the TV and the cable. Please, send a PS5 or XBOX Series X to my parcel locker and I can test the 2.1 feature… :)

    • Just wait the new SONY X900J is dropping this month, this TV should be like $2200 and no more.

      • According to TechRadar:

        Sony X90J release date
The Sony X90J is not yet available to pre-order. Higher-end Sony sets like the A80J or A90J are, however, and will be arriving with shoppers in late March / early April. We would expect the LCD 4K models in Sony's range to be available shortly after this.

Sony TVs tend to come to Australia a little later (the X90J isn't even listed on Sony's AU website yet) but it should happen eventually.

*If you have a crystal ball, I'd like to borrow it; otherwise, it seems that OP might have to wait for a long time for a price reduction…

I'm incredibly happy with the 75X9000H (used for movies and XBOX One), but I should say that the unfulfilled promises from Sony (VRR) are disappointing, even if I wouldn't use these features.

I know a lot of people like the X900H I personally don't like it, I just personally hate how it looks off axis, It's noticeable side by side to the X950H or even a Samsung Q80T. Even though people say the colour and picture quality is good, it looked inferior to me, even after calibration. Just my thoughts and feelings. I'm glad you enjoy this TV and that it suits your usage.

  • Which games actually do 4k 120hz on next gen consoles?

  • Do not buy Sony from Costco
I bought 2 Sony TVs from Costco 3 years ago. Both TVs failed after 3 years…Sony quality is very bad these days but Costco is worse with their new return/exchange policies. They refused to exchange and/or repair both TVs after only 3 yrs. I expected a bit better from Costco

    • So you want them to fix / repair your TV wayyy after your warranty period ended?

    • You can’t complain about a retailer/manufacturer not fixing an out of warranty product.

      • +9

Wrong. ACL: Businesses must provide these automatic guarantees regardless of any other warranties they give to you or sell you.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

        Mandatory text
"Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure."

As usual, mention you know your right and the ACL, and that you will make a complain to the agency. They probably don't care becuase they only works there but you might be lucky. Record the name of the person and manager you spoke to. Time and date etc. Maybe video record if you can as evidence for the complaint.

See here on how to make a consumer complaint.

It is not that simple. You are looking at the remedy before it has been shown there is a breach.

The consumer guarantee is that the product is/will be of 'acceptable quality'. As far as product life goes, this has been taken to mean that a product will last for a reasonable amount time, taking into account the type and cost of the product.

What this means in reality is open to broad interpretation, and arguments can be made for both sides in this instance IMO.

The point is, it is not up to the consumer to unilaterally decide if the product is/was of acceptable quality. You either need to convince to retailer or manufacturer, or convince a court/authority.

  • Why does it include an analog TV tuner??

    • For the retro feeling

  • Pointless now, the X900J is about to drop, just wait for that.
