As it clearly states above in bold text "7% discount applied off order subtotal after all discounts, not off original item prices."

Would you like me to explain this to you further?

      • Hi cyclestation, The last tyre listing "Maxxis DTH BMX Racing Bike Tyre 20 x 1.75" Folding. Was $54.95, now $30, save 45%"
goes to a different link,FYI. You may want to correct it.
BTW some great deals, I like it!!

        • +1

          Thankyou! Fixed now.

      • +5

BTW ignore OzB member and serial pest commenter jv,
        Everyone else does,
Just neg his comment like everyone else then move on!!

    • +13

Even the short version on the title says "EXTRA 7% off Subtotal with Code"
(Do you understand what a subtotal is?)

      • +6

        Ignore JV, they're a stirrer…

        • +7

          Thanks,
I'm getting downvotes on my comments just for trying to do a good thing for Ozbargain Shoppers.
Perhaps I should have just listed up the deals as normal and not added an extra sweetener!

          • +1

@cyclestation: JV perfectly understands the logic, there's a handful of other genuine users who may not (or may make a logic error by accident)

          • +1

@cyclestation: Looks like the downvoting is just for replies. Even other non-associated users to a store get downvotes in replies/comments because people have a bad day/trolling/etc.

The main thing to be aware of is that a user cannot downvote a deal (and therefore impact your front-page visibility) without a legit reason (per Voting Guidelines page).

    • +5

      For the troll
      * 94% off: 100% - 94% = 6%
      * 6% off the remainder: 6% * (100% - 7%) = 6% * 93% = 5.58% of the original price

      • +5

        Thanks Sqeeksqeek
To give another example, lets say an item is $100 normally, and it's 50% off, making it $50 on sale.
Take 7% off the $50 basket total ($3.50) will bring the total down to $46.50

Or lets say you buy a bunch of products and it adds up to an order value of $200 after all discounts.
You would then take another 7% off that, ($14) so would end up reducing the total further to $186.

        Hope this helps someone.

Fair call. Not trying to be humourless. Just a tad deflating when you put in a couple days of work coming up with these deals and calculating everything and are trying to give genuine value, and then the first comment is someone having a go. But you a right, I'll lighten up. :-)

      • +9

        Just a tad deflating

        I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • +5

Is it JV that insulted you? He is like that. Don't mind him.

      • +1

Yes, can see you put a lot of work into the links. You're best to ignore the Statlers and Waldorfs of the inter webs, or pretend to be naive and just answer them nicely. Most readers are reasonable, and will only call you out on this forum if your deals suck.

        • (And these deals don't suck - thanks OP)

      • +2

Guess you don't know JV …. his only goal was to get a reaction … and as many negs as possible…

        • Guess I gave him that then! haha

      • +1

Sorry for the (profanity) attitude some people on here have. Thanks for posting a great deal.

  • +12

+1 for the detailed deal post..we appreciate cycling deals here at ozb

  • +3

$40 for a Lezyne stripdrive is a steal. For my money they're the best rear lights you can buy at a reasonable price.

  • On another subject…what's the deal with rear hubs these days? I rarely see QR rear hubs anymore, and almost as rarely 135mm hubs.

Also noticed some brands I'm not familiar with getting around.

  • Thanks OP for the post. Any recommendations for a set of cycling gloves? Looking for full finger length ones for winter riding

    • It does depend a bit on what sort of riding you are doing, but I really rate these: https://www.cyclestation.com.au/giro-unisex-blaze-2.0-winter…

    • i've got some Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel gloves for winter. so far have only tested them in drizzle, and it wasn't that cold out either. they're not bad…fit is nice except for the fingertips where i find the internal seams get in the way, works flawlessly with my phone (probably my imagination, but phone responds better to the glove than my gloveless hand lol). the cuff provides good coverage but it's rather annoying to pull on. the gel padding also doesn't compare to the not-at-all-for-cycling mechanix work gloves i've been using for nearly every day so far this year. those have surprising nice, durable padding that covers a wider area, some knuckle protection, very grippy finger tips (almost too abrasive?), is easy to put on/take off and has little loops which i can thread a carabiner through so i don't lose them. even with the mesh, i don't find it uncomfortable to use now the nights are getting colder. nor did they get soaked during heavier drizzle i got caught out in once.

tl;dr i'd probably just go to a shop and try out some gloves to see what feels good and what features are more important to you.

      • That's interesting! I use the Endura Windchill and I thought it was a problem with the product itself with the seams. I find they dig underneath the fingernails. But sounds like from your experience it's just a universal problem with gloves

        • seems to be, yeah. more noticeable the more tapered and close-fitting a glove is.

  • Any good balaclava recommendations for winter riding?

  • +1

Site has been ozbargained into oblivion! And I've been waiting for something like this!

  • I need a new inner tube for a Byk Cyclocross 620CX, the tire says 37-622, (700x35C), could you guide me what to buy please?
Thanks for the great effort with this post and sale.

  • 2 x Maxxis Refuse 23c Wire Bead (That's TWO tyres) for only $29.99, save 57%.

Are these for indoor bike trainers or can they be used on the road?

    • +2

these are for outdoor use and not trainers (although they can be used for trainers - i use my old ones once they start getting a few punctures and are no longer roadworthy)
re-fuse is a nice durable commuter / all rounder tyre that will suit a wide variety of surfaces. worth noting this is the wire bead version and not folding kevlar bead but for the price these are a good buy if you like the norrower 23c size
