make sure you remember to pay.

  • I get much better results just using passata and adding my own fresh onion, garlic and basil…

      No one cares

        You are wrong

    • +7

yeah mate, I too get better results when I grow my own tomatoes, onions, garlic and basil and hand make my pasta with flour sourced from the smallest villages in Italy. point of a bottle is for convenience and ease

      • -4

…and a shitload of unnecessary sugar.

        • +4

I'm a big anti-sugar guy and I think 6.9g per serve is relatively small, would imagine ~90% of that would just be from the tomatoes.

point of a bottle is for convenience and ease

It literally takes 2-3 minutes to make your own.

    • You're probably right but this product is clearly not for people adding their own ingredients.

Wonder how many I will get smashed on arrival :-)

"Reason for return: [text obscured by pasta sauce]"

  • I gather that Amazon can still post these… given AU Posts crackdown on small businesses sending perishable food ??

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-20/producers-devastated-…

    • amazon sends these from their warehouse directly.
AU Post has a lot more intermediates, eg, seller to send to Aus Post DC A to Aus Post DC B to consumers.
i even have my stuff being send to a DC further away before dispatching to the DC near me…

These aren't "perishable". That refers to things that are fresh e.g. usually needing some form of cold storage to maintain freshness.

Cans, jars and so on are just regular groceries. No issues in transport (aside from safely packing) .

  • thanks op grabbed some

I've taken the advice of Nat and just started making my own lately - taste so much better and healthier. Death to Jar sauce!

    • what a twat

after whinging about jarred sauce he then proceeds to used canned tomato paste …

      • Tomato paste is just tomatoes, no sugar or other crap.

        • the tomato paste has an natural sugar in it, just as much as the dolmio sauce. he also uses canned stock. why doesn't he make that as well? and to top it off, he is eating a bucket load of pasta lol. the sauce is the least of his problems

          • @c64: He's not a super health nazi by any means, just more teaching people that the jar sauce doesn't really save all that much time, and you can be a bit healthier and have fresher ingredients by using fresh stuff - tastes nicer too (well IMO anyway).

I think he was good during lockdown to keep people motivated, but also good to teach people that cooking isn't too hard and everyone can have a go. I do know some people who think they can't make things from scratch and must use ready sauces and pre-done stuff, when Nat really shows people to have the confidence to give it a go.
