Epic Broadband nbn - National Outage

Anyone having issues with their NBN with Epic Broadband this morning? On their website it does say its a national outage but no info anywhere. Also what's with their contact us page being blank and Launchpad not working?

An update from Vocus.

Wholesale Network provider Vocus confirming to EFTM that “Epic Broadband was found to be in breach of contract with Vocus wholesale in relation to its unpaid account, which is significantly in arrears. Payment is an essential requirement of our ability to provide ongoing network services to our customers. “

“Following multiple unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue and having provided numerous warnings that services would be affected, Vocus ceased providing wholesale services to Epic Broadband late last week.”

In other words, change ISP.

How can you be so grumpy at this time in the morning? Or are you bitter 24/7

      • sorry, if i sound grumpy, but i really did not mean it that way.

        • Ok no worries, hope it fixes soon

Looks like the issue is being discussed on Whirlpool:

Its been down since last night.. No active chat, no facebook, and not picking up the phones.
Will probably wait abit and if not resolved just port to another ISP.

    • If they did pack up and run, they'll probably get away with it too.

      • …….
        apparently its been sold.

Suspect they about to go out of biz
if its national it means NBNCO have restricted their access due to non payment (guessing, but its happened with other ISP's that went bust)

No call centre staff to answer phones
    Live chat : no response.

I would churn as quick as you can

        i was close

  • If you haven't just paid for a full month I'd be jumping ship immediately. Looks like they've gone bust and done a runner.

Even if you did just pay for a month you have to weight up whether it's even worth waiting for them to declare they've gone broke. It's unlikely you'll have information before the weekend and by Monday you'll have had no internet for nearly 4 days…

    • Full month paid unfortunately as I only signed up 2 weeks ago

      • That sucks :(

  • glad the forums is the go to for info. Yeah no luck calling, waiting for my bank to pick up, trying to dispute a payment since its the start of the month. might need to block and get a new card by the read of it.

  • Signed up this monday afternoon, cheaters charged staright away for 2 months and no one on the phone was answering why they charged for two months instead of one. Service went down on Tuesday night for a few hours NBN uplink downlink is synchronised but no service from Epic since 5:28 last evening. No calls getting through .. No chat support and all emails bouncing back .Called my Bank and they advised to cancel the card , have a lodged a transaction dispute for 107 dollars, not sure if Bank will do anything in this regard

    • yeah same with me, they charged me for 2 months and the service worked for 5 days now down for everyone.

  • When you can't spell unavailable you know there's an issue.. Epic fail!

  • Do NBN providers connect on weekends or only weekdays

    • Both.

      • In that case I am tempted to walk into a telstra store and signup or maybe try ABB or Superloop online signup

  • bank recommended me to cancel card and block all transactions. what a dodgy move

I signed up a couple of months ago but as soon as I found out who the owner was I cancelled the churn and had my card number changed. Family said I was over reacting but I remember the last time.

  • Went ahead and signed up with Superloop, online.

Now need to wait and watch if they transfer me over tomorrow or will it be Monday.

    • signed up with launtel this morning. was told will be connected today, but nothing till the end of the day, and then was told if not connected tonight, then it will be Monday, as the carrier do not work over the weekend.

      • I signed up with Superloop friday night and got connected saturday early morning!

    • If there is no issue with the transfer, it will be done within an hour. If not, you will be waiting until Monday as Superloop don't do manual transfers over the weekend. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9vyypr23

      • Yes, got connected in overnight!

    • I switched to superloop, just got connected so theres still hope for today

  • Got sucked in by them mainly for the possibility of a cheap price that isn't limited to a 6 month timeframe (unless they chose to increase of course).

Connection only started on Monday and was sweet getting 52mbps on a 50 connection. Then the missus messages me at work 5pm Thursday to say the internet is down. I figured when I get home it'll either be fixed or I'll just need to reset the router or nbn box to sort it out. Unfortunately no that wasn't the case and all emails have been ignored as have phone calls left on hold for an hour before I gave up.

I have made a complaint to the ombudsman, started the process to change providers, contacted my CC provider to begin a chargeback dispute (which they have covered the cost already in the interim). Ill need to cancel my card to stop further possible transactions.

  • went to superloop, got connected within the hour

Guys cancel your credit cards as these crooks can charge you again. I filed a dispute to my bank for a refund. I was also confused about the charges when I signed up with them, it turns it they do pro-rata for the current month (pay for the remaining days of the month) + 1 month in advanced. It's their accounting system, I think they are lazy to count at the start date of the activation. The person/s behind this company is described in the thread in whirlpool forum. It's his 2nd time. First one is Infinity Telco (have gone under also) and now Epic Broadband.

TIO rang me and said they gone into liquidation. Don't think I need to say anymore…

  • I still haven't heard from TIO, as I lodged a dispute against epic. However, now I'm with spintel.
They kept on charging me though I requested for disconnection only after 3 days with them as I had so many dropout and other issues. Luckily my credit card expired and couldn't charge me for this month, and obviously, they have gone bust.

  • if they have gone bust does it mean they will continnue to charge our credit cards ?

    • They might as they have it on record. Better cancel your credit card to be safe.

  • I just heard from TIO (since I am dealing a complaint against Epic) that the company has gone into liquidation.
