Telstra Mobile Broadband Large Data Plan $75 ($10 off) for 400GB Per Month for 12 months @ Telstra

260

I just noticed today that Telstra has reduced their "Data Plan Large" from $85 to $75 for 400GB data per month.

Solid NBN alternative for those unable to access NBN. I'm moving into a new house soon - it's meant to have HFC but I am still waiting to get NBN connected, and then as of yesterday NBN has delayed the restart of new (HFC) orders, this time due to problems with a backend system used to assign new connection and assurance jobs to contractors. Yep.

Cool. I might take this up. But need to sort out a 4G modem.

    offer ends 30 June 2021

    Good, gives me time.

    • sort out a 4G modem.

It actually includes 5G from what I can see, which makes it pretty good for me.

    • I recommend checking out Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree for 4G modems. Plenty on there. 5G modems are so expensive.

i grabbed a Tenda 4g09 ac1200 router earlier this year. had 2 people working from home, kids hammering video & gaming. on Optus 4g and it worked a treat. Ethernet port was handy for Chromecast. $135 couldn't go wrong.

Includes 5G access for those curious

  • For the first 12 months then $85. Still, good value and intimately faster for most.

  • This or Felix, slower speed but unlimited download… hmm.

And half price, and unlimited calls

  • This will also pool with 'Upfront Mobile' plans too https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/sim-only-plans

I am using Telstra 5g home broadband, very fast download speed of about 300M. Just $85 per month, 1TB data.

    • Great if you can get it…

    • Where is this plan?

      • +2

        It's here
        https://www.telstra.com.au/internet/5g-broadband-plans
but invitation only at the moment.

        • Awesome, looks like i'm eligible. Just signed up - better than NBN, both price and performance.

          • @pennypincher: Are you having Telstra NBN at home?

            • +1

@T-man: I have Telstra NBN on the 500Gb $40/month COVID family plan.
Ours is a shitty FTTN connection maxxing out at 25/5, but I'm not able to sign up for this.

I was previously on an Optus 4G plan to get half decent speeds (Optus 4G speed varied from 30/8 to 100/8) and will probably look to move back to 4G or 5G at the end of the 12 month NBN contract.

              • @ESEMCE: Thanks, I used to have Telstra NBN at home but the speed was 100/40 probably this is why I am not invited. I really want to sign up for the 5G Home Internet but my address is not eligible. I even asked them if I cannot sign up, could you please sell me the modem so I can use it with the data sim, but they could not. I just wait to wait, at the moment I am using 5G data sim only in my 5G modem, the speed is blazing fast. https://www.speedtest.net/result/i/4548272436

            • @T-man: New property…I am eligible for NBN FTTN, but decided not to connect to it and pay the initial $300 connection fee for a far inferior service.

        • Saw this. Much better option but devastated I'm not eligible. So cruel.

    • How did you get that plan ? I can get Telstra 5G where I live, supposedly… but have been waiting on a decent plan, currently using Optus 4G. I could connect to LNBN via fibre but need to pay a $300 connection fee.

    • How did you get the invitation? I have been waiting for a while and have not got it yet, I asked them many times to add my address to the eligible list but they couldn’t.

Huawei B818 of probably the fastest cheap 4G modem. $216 outright at Optus.

Add a couple of external antennas and you should speeds fastest than most NBN plans.

    • +1

Yeah, and you can get them second hand pretty cheap too. But I was wanting to go with a Netgear M2 which is also Cat 20. I have some possibly unjustified issues with trusting Huawei.

    • any recommendations on antennas to buy for it?

    • Don't most people have an old 4g phone lying around?

Link end up on 75Gb plan max. There is no 400Gb. Wrong link?
