For those who don't care about RTX 3000 series, this seems like a pretty good deal on a high-end laptop.

Note the shipping time is a few weeks.

  • Better off with a legion 5 pro ryzen 5800h 3070 if you live chat can get down to around $2500

    • Is that worth it over a $1600 legion 5i with intel cpu and rtx 2060?

      • worth it if you have it spare :) similar value wise just more $$

    • Is it this $3,279 laptop that you can get for $2500 if you contact live chat? That looks like it would be a great deal but do you need to do anything special or just contact regular live chat and say gimme discount.

    • I ordered a L5P last night.
You would be doing VERY well to get it for that now, spoke to 3 reps. The retail on those is $3200 now (where as they were 2999 earlier), the best they will come down too in the current climate is the educational price of $2799 - which is what i paid.
      Shipping time of 5-6 weeks.

      • Do you know if you get the 7% cash rewards if you haggle a discount?

        • +1

          Yes

          • @azukay: I had a look on the Cash Rewards website but it says 'Purchases made through Lenovo's student store, staff discounts, corporate deals, and negotiated offers (phone/email/chat) are ineligible for cashback.'

        • tbh i've never jumped on the cash rewards thing, I really should have a long time ago. I recall seeing on earlier deals that they were getting cash rewards

          • @garvani: Oh yeah, cash rewards is great. Especially if you can get 7% back on a $2500 computer lol

          • @garvani: Also, I just contacted the live chat and they gave a price of $2650 which is good but a shipping date of 21 September which is feels way too far away. What date did you get quoted?

            • +1

@CEO Rachel Jake: ahh right that must be in the following batch. I got for $2799 but ships in 5-6 weeks he said - so around the 22nd June (but he didn't give me a firm date like yours did, doesnt say anything on the invoice about shipping date either).
They also have a clause in the sales contract that if it doesnt ship in 30 calender days you can cancel the order.

            • @CEO Rachel Jake: Crazy that ordering less than 24hours later and there's another 3 months delay on shipping. That would have to be the next batch, so they are only getting them in every 3 months?

              • @garvani: Yeah, it's pretty rough. I definitely think it's the laptop I want, but 6 months is way to long to wait. I'd hope it's a worse case estimate and would come sooner but don't know I want to take the risk considering how many other good options there are today.

                • @CEO Rachel Jake: Have a look at the legion 7 amd, identical specs except l7 has better cooling and more RGB.
They were shipping a lot sooner than the l5p yesterday, however were another ~$200.
Im using the shipping delay almost as a get out of jail free card. After 30 days i can cancel the order (pretty certain its going to be longer than 30 days). If i see something else in the mean time thats better value/performance ill get that. If not, im in a queue here.

        • I got a L5P late last month, negotiated a price and used the rewards. It did show as pending to my surprise, however it got cancelled as it was a negotiated price.

Worth a try though.. literally click of a button

      • I was just on chat and was offered $2700 with 6-8 week shipping plus 2 weeks delivery.

I love gaming but I'm a complete noob when it comes to knowing how good tech specs are.

I currently have an Alienware 15 with GTX 1070, 16GB RAM and Intel i78750H. Is this a good upgrade point? I was thinking of waiting till the 4xxx series come out.

        • The legion 5 pro is a substantial increase in performance over your current model. If you have the cash and wanting an upgrade you can't go wrong here.

        • Do you need an upgrade? This will depend on the games you play now and plan to get in the near future.
Your current machine is still decent, especially if you're only playing 1080p 60Hz (which I assume is the laptop's display specs)

          • @FireRunner: No, don't really need an upgrade. Still runs perfectly fine. I have it plugged into an Alienware 25 monitor and mainly play Apex, up to 240fps. I was going to wait until 4xxx release and buy a top of the line 3xxx at a big discount, similar to what we are seeing for the 2xxx top of the line discounts.

I just jumped back into chat and was offered $2531.75 which is probably what I would have looked to spend at most. I could easily wait for a 3080 to come down in a year or two but at this price, I don't know if I should jump now or not.

    • I've had my eye on the Legion 5 Pro, if you can get it for the same price as this Alienware go for it

    • Yep can confirm this as well just bought one using live chat. Thanks s3n.

      • What price and delivery time did you get? I was quoted $2650 with a delivery time of September.

        • I'd also like to know - I was considering a L5P but I'd need it before August. Also what was your process for getting a quote? Did you just jump on live chat and ask what their best price was?

          • +1

@tmr3: Yep, pretty painless. Gave them my details and they created an account and gave me a link to purchase it.

          • +1

@tmr3: I was just quoted 2700 on live chat with 10 weeks timeframe

        • +2

I got quoted $2531 plus got 1 year on site support included. I did not get an ETA and now reading comments I am worried.

In order to get discount I asked:

I want to get the Legion 5 pro 16 with rtx 3070 that was on sale for 2499$ and i have been waiting a long time for that price to go down.

Can you match that price today?

That's all I asked and chat representative checked what's best price etc.

          • @japik: If you ordered that today then yes by the looks you won't be receiving it until August/September. The sales guy should have made that pretty clear i would have thought.

Use Lovekeanu for additional discount to $2324.07.

  • Wow, Total saving $3100 from their website.

    • I guess that would be the RRP at launch that was never updated when the next generation GPUs was released
      Pretty good price still

      • +1

Indeed very good price and so tempted.

  • Getting an error now. Presume deal is gone

    • Never mind working again.

  • Same. Probaby OOS.

  • Add Win 10 Pro + 4K Screen + LoveKeanu = $2882. So tempting!

  • Which one is better 4k UHD 60Hz vs the FHD 300Hz?

    • +2

For gaming where response time matters ie. FPS, RTS etc. FHD 300Hz

The other issue with the 4k is that 2080 Super isn't enough to run most more recent games at a decent frame rate

For pure video watching, multimedia, video editing etc. 4k is much better

      • Thanks. 300 Hz for me then.
