Motorola RAZR (XT910) Outright $519 Plus $19 Postage

40

I came across this from Kogan and thought I'd share with my fellow Ozbargainers.

Seems like a good deal for those looking for an outright price. I also had a play with the phone at a shop and seems to work quit well.

The phone can optionally be covered by an extended warranty from Kogan for a total of 3 years for $79. Not sure on this one since the battery is sealed within the unit, and batteries have an expected 1 yr life although most continue on past this.

What do you all think about this deal?

EDIT:

I forgot to add what I heard from them over the phone…
- Shipping from Hong Kong but I was assured it is an authentic Motorola product and not a cheap knock-off version.
- If warranty is required, you can either post into them and they will reimburse this cost, or they will arrange a courier to come pick it up.

  • this battery only 1 yr life? or all batts?

    • From what I was told (some time ago), you can expect all batteries to have a 1 yr lifespan. That's why warranty on batteries (for things like laptops) only go for 12months, but then again, Dell sometimes offers 3 yr warranty as an option. Battery technology may have progressed to a point where this "only 1 yr lifespan" guideline is no longer true.

If anyone can shed some light on this topic it would be appreciated.

Phone batteries are very cheap to replace. I bought 2 Anker branded extended batteries for my SGS2 and they last just as long, if not longer, than the original batteries.

        The cost? $19 bucks, delivered.

  • I was hearing Android Atlas yesterday and the guys there really praised this phone. They were saying its better than Nexus Prime specially the battery life.

The Razr has been criticised for it's poor battery performance (per charge, not lifespan). That's why motorola released a Razr Maxx (not sure how many x's are supposed to be there, maybe only one) which has a much higher battery charge while only adding a small amount of bulk to the phone. That said, the reviews of the regular razr phone were pretty glowing. This seems like a decent price.

edit: yeah, like those posters above me mentioned :)

The battery in this phone is also non replaceable? Or at least more difficult to replace than in a standard phone since the rear cover is not removable.

The phone is also quite large, so keep that in mind if you have small hands.

    Great price though.

  • This phone is good and the price is reasonable,
but I don't think the battery performance is good enough from my friends' feedback.
no need of extended warranty, one phone, one year.

  • How about that?

Just found it for about $525 delivered from here -> http://buymart.com.au/motorola-razr-xt910-p-46698.html

    That's:
    - $490.11 for the phone
    - $25 postage
    - 2% for insurance

… buymart? Never heard of them before? Are they trustworthy? Anyone?
