Furniture Liquidation from Receivers (Sydney)

72

I was sent the attached PDF from a friend working in a liquidation firm.

I was told they have to get rid of $1m worth of new furniture and are pretty desperate as they have to get rid of it by Saturday 4pm, and have not sold much at all. Apparently they'll pretty much accept any offer.

(So there are no firm prices to put in the Title of this post)

From the PDF:

  • i hate liquidators and solvency firms, easiest legal way to print money… but in saying that… they often take anything they can get when they have these sales so you may grab a bargain

Yeah after Ozem Kassem's 400 cousins have a look through the good stuff

So no Faquari Rugs left then?

        • +1

          Q: Where Faquari?

          A: Here on OzBargain!

          LOL

  • Any1 went to it? what sort of bargains are there atm?

  • Gonna check it out this saturday, any idea how late they'll be open?

  • Anyone know the opening hours?

Would they say accept $100 for a leather couch? (that desperate? :P)

    • From what I was told, yes. I suppose you would have to see.

  • Just gave them a call, open 9-5 daily.

i think this might be the companies website? http://www.dvkelly.com.au/
Assuming it is DV Kelly who has gone under.

Nothing there that is my cup of tea, but best of luck to you guys

    • Damn no wonder they went under with a website like that.

    I just came back.

It is D V Kelly. There's a bit, but depends on your tastes. It's modestly wooden pieces. Lots of dining tables. There were some more modern individual chairs, but not many.

I did get lucky and score myself 3x black bar stools for $100. Reminds me of the casino stools.

    • Thanks to the original poster as well.

  • Anyone know if have to take away the item on the day of purchase or will they be able to offer a later pick-up date/delivery?

  • +1

I bought my stools home today. If you purchase an item, but can't take it home then it'll be marked as sold and you can pickup during business hours.

The last day to pickup the goods is saturday. The staff told me that there will be a third party delivery van there as well, but it's up to you to negotiate a price with them.

if anyone has gone; could you comment on the quality of the furniture, especially dining tables (would mind paying several hundred if its top quality) (e.g. full mahogany vs chipboard). thanks

    • I'm not skilled enough to tell whether it's full mahogany vs chipboard.

They were big, and some of them were expandable. The colour was generally a light grey colour. At a guess I'd say it wasn't full mahogany.

      • Thanks for that mate,

Any idea on how much they were asking for any of the dinning tables?

        thanks

        • Ranges between $600 to about $1200. These prices were said to be 1/2 of the RRP.

i was expecting a much sweeter deal with liquidation sale!!!…..50% off HN's retail price? hardly a bargain!!!!!!

        • thanks for the info zonder, probably saved me a trip there. considering 1/2rrp at harvey norman is probably slightly lower than what you can get for grey imports it is hardly a "liquidation".
thought saying that, i have found harvey norman's furniture to be good quality, so it might be worth it if the quality is there

just came back from the store, everything is priced and they are not cheap. not worth the trouble…

  • thanks guys,

i was about to pay a visit and waste my time. I wanted a chandelair and wondered if i could score one cheap. 50% off the retail price may not be worth attending!

hmm, looks like the bargain hunters from Ozb has thrown out the "Apparently they'll pretty much accept any offer" policy!

Just checked this out. Looks like mainly floor stock they are selling. Not a huge range left, mainly dining suites in darker timber, flashy stuff. Some marble and stone dining tables. Glass and or stone coffee and end tables and entertainment units. If you are buying anyway I'd look here before fantastic furniture.
