Claiming Woolworths 10% off

Anyone else having trouble claiming the 10% off? For me it seems to be a drama more often than not.

Attempt 1. Go to Woolworths, Select Woolworths rewards card on Google Pay. Google Pay says to tap phone. Somehow Woolworths gets my debit card instead of my rewards. I guess Google Pay didn't say "Simon says tap your phone"?

Attempt 2. Tried Woolworths online. Some glitch prevented me entering 10% off code. Contacted Woolworths. By time Woolworths responded glitch had resolved itself, but all the specials had changed. Finally got my 10% off but had to redo my order.

Attempt 3. Both mine and my flatmates card claimed MAY2021 had been used to often. Waited till June. Website said we were not eligible for Jun2021. We kind of needed groceries by this point, so, learning from last time we just bought the groceries and reported the glitch to Woolworths. They claimed that I had already used the May code (weird, I don't remember it and the instore counters were offering me 10% off, but anyway I used the Jun2021 code so not hugely relevant). Then they claimed that a "transaction" was the price plus discounts so my whole "transaction" was over $500 even though the price is $500. I can't find this definition of transaction on the Woolworths site, in a dictionary or elsewhere.

    Nope.

Maybe try scanning the rewards barcode instead of tapping via Google Pay?

Has been seamless for us, just scan the card and hit yes, no fumbling around.

You have to tap the phone before hitting "pay now" (or whatever it is on the screen) to get the rewards card to trigger.

  • How in the world would the system know it's you if you don't scan the membership card first?

    • Because I selected my membership card in Google Pay first?

  • Nope, works every time.

  • wait, what 10% off?

It works once instore and once online in a month.

    • Both?

      That's good to know!

      • There was no limit online before covid started.

    • Just to add:
There is a waiting period before you are eligible. There used to be an email notification for this discount in the beginning of the month. If not, you may still not be eligible.

In-store I just tap the phone while the groceries are being put through. No need to open Google pay and select the rewards card.

Then the when about to pay the checkout operator usually asks me if I want to apply the discount. So for me, in-store just works

On-line usually just works. Once it didn't accept the code so I had to start a chat with a support person (had to wait quite a while to get one) and they did something to apply the code for me.
