  • Does this SKU work with Android Auto as well? I swap between iPhone and Android every now and again, hoping for something that does both.

LMAO SKU? 😂 But no, you'd need the AAwireless for android

  • Thanks OP, I nearly bought this the other day but was unsure about how well it worked. Thanks for the recommendation!

  • I searched on facebook and found a page dedicated to "CARPLAY2air is a Scam".

    Not sure if reliable source…

    • High percentage of poor reviews on Trustpilot

      • Can only talk about my personal experience, and I find it great not needing cables to connect.

  • I’ve had one of these for over a year, was a bit unstable at first but firmware updates sorted it out.

Been really happy with it, working well in my Ford Everest with SYNC3.

    • I have an Everest with SYNC3. Do you ever have issues with the adapter? How long does it take to connect to the phone? Also if you have 2 iPhones can you swap between them?

      • Very rarely CarPlay might lag or freeze, but simply unplugging and reconnecting the unit sorts it. Happens maybe once a month (car is driven regularly).

Connects very quickly, barely any slower than with the cable.

I’ve not tried it, but it does display a list of paired devices for a moment before auto connect begins. You can have multiple paired.

        • Ok thank for the feedback. I will get one.

        • How easy is it to switch between the two phones after it has already connected to one? Assuming both phones in the car and paired with it, it auto connects to the last one used, what if I then want to switch to the other one?

          • +1

@pavlos: No idea, I’ve never used it that way. Easiest would be to disable Bluetooth on the phone you don’t want to connect, disconnect the wireless dongle and plug it back in.

This is often how my wife and I manage factory wireless CarPlay in our BMW X3. I can switch in the menu, but it works easily this way.

  • Some quick research in to this it appears that Cplay2air is the same as Carlinkit v1 model CPC200-U2WCarlinkit 2.0 model CPC200-U2W Plus seems the most popular with a removable USB-C cable.

However on AliExpress it looks like there is an even newer Carlinkit 3.0 model number appears to be the same (see note below from the listing), can't seem to find it anywhere else though price is US$82.32 after discount so only AU$106 with free shipping from China - even if it is only the v2 that is still cheaper than this Cplay2air sale by ~$22… based on this I am inclined to think this would be a better buy?

Carlinkit hereby declares that with regard to the "Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Activator" on the AliExpress: the product is the same product as Carlinkit 2.0. We just made a better quality chip to upgrade the original product. The chip makes the product more stable and adaptable. But in essence, they have the same function: let the car has built-in wired OEM CarPlay can use wireless CarPlay.

There is also another model JoyeAuto MMB+ that also has AirPlay Screen Mirroring and USB drive support but more than double the price at $225.68 although appears to have a 2 second audio delay if watching videos anyway, so probably wouldn't buy for this feature alone.

Has anyone used the Carlinkit devices? And anyone with multiple paired phones in the car at the same time, what is the experience like if you need to switch between devices, can it be done from within the menus without unplugging the dongle and toggling bluetooth on/off the phones? And what's the startup time with the latest firmware from when you switch on your car to the Apple CarPlay home screen loading?

  • Received mine, working really well in Hyundai Santa Fe 2016
