expired Kingston 4gb DataTraveler - $22.95 from Deals Direct (free shipping!)
This was posted 1360 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal

But a negative vote would also deter new members from sharing deals.
If I was a new member, and I think there is a fantastic deal out there and share on here, I would at least expect some thanks for my effort. If I get shot down at my first attempt, I wouldn't be bothered wasting my time posting any longer. I think a negative vote is only deserved when the deal is not legitimate (i.e. scam/dishonest/spam type posts). Again, this is only my personal opinion.

I agree to Purt and itcross, since the offer is identical, and Purt only post it to bring awareness to an even better deal. Purt did this professionally and aimed only to help the community understands better, nothing personal there, so we hope scrimshaw would understand. There's enough "minus" (I don't like the tone negative) votes to attract awareness, so I will stay neutral here.
TeaEarlGreyHot on 31/08/2008 - 10:34 ¶Well spotted Purt, but I don't think that warrants a -ve for this post. $22.95 delivered would be a best buy any other time. A +ve from me, if only to negate the -ve.
Cheers,
Live Long and Prosper.

Sorry,
Are we voting on the deal or the attempt?
Other users look to the votes to say: 'Is this a good deal?'Based on Purts entry it is not.
So we should (and I will vote negatively) vote because we know there is a better deal out there. The possible positive there may be is it directs people to the better deal if they review this entry.
Is it a bargain: Not really if one better is immediately found.
Is a negative vote on this a bad thing to say to scrimshaw: not really as a byantine knowledge is needed to make a better deal.So what are you voting for - me I vote for the deal - in this case not the best.
K

See,
If you compare this to the Commonwealth Bank thing someone posted its gets very different.
It got a lot of minus votes because people thought it was a bad deal.
Me, I agree it was a bad deal. I also think that a bad deal should be voted down.
The votes push it to the top of a list called 'Top Deals' If it isn't then should your vote push it there? In the comments in the CBA thing people discussed other options that were better value and lamented about the real lack of consumers excercising choice. But they voted against it as a top deal.
Are we reviewing these deals objectively of subjectively?
Is there such a thing as a subjective 'Top Deal'?K
McLarenMercedes on 31/08/2008 - 13:16 ¶I saw a Verbatim 4Gb from $17.82 a month or so ago @ BigW- everyday low price apparently…….

This is still more expensive than MSY's normal price. Are we just going to +ve everything that gets close to MSY's pricing? Why don't we just forward ozbargain.com.au to www.msy.com.au? I can't believe people are giving this a positive vote just because it might hurt the poster's feelings.
TeaEarlGreyHot on 31/08/2008 - 22:51 ¶Unfortunately, today's surprise SSq deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/6312) makes this one & the TopBuy deal look suddenly 2nd rate.
A week ago, you'd have said anything under $25 for a 4GB name-brand USB drive was pretty good. Now we're down to $17 for this unit after 3 sellers have down-bid each other.
Does this mean free enterprise really works??? Healthy competition = happy consumers (OzBargainers at any rate)…[ :- { )

True for SSq, but other retailers would probably be frowning though. Luckily it's only a limited time thing, otherwise SSq would be in the "most hated" list just like MSY by other retailers selling PC parts.
lot of impulsive buy with 4GB USB Drive at $17 delivered.
So true, I got one as soon as I saw the price tag. And I already have so many 1GB ones at home.
