  • "Refrigerate after opening for up to 5 days."?

    • +2

I find it lasts about 3-4 weeks in the fridge before it begins to really thicken up and you need to chuck it, certainly still tastes fine after 5 days

The problem with these is that you have to use within 5 days, even if you stretch it out to a month, it still a lot of sauce to go through.

Yeah, these are commercial products rather than consumer, hence the size. Similarly with Maggis one, think you can buy it on Amazon and Costco, but same open shelf life, great for restaurants, not great for homes.

    • Yes it will last about a month. Depends how many you feed but it doesn't take that long to get through if you have it with a few meals each week

    • yup.. I usually fill a small container and give some to my Mum and to my sister as our family won't go through a litre in 2-3 weeks. With that being said, it lasts for months if it's unopened, so I cancelled my monthly subscription and bought 5x of them at $8.80 each. Sorted until end of 2021 at least.

No butter? “I can’t believe it ain’t Hollandaise!”

  • Any good hollandaise in a squeezy bottle like mayo?

For $8.80, a months worth of Sunday brunches is worth it ;)

some toasted muffins, fried bacon (or fried thin sliced ham as we like to do) and a slice of cheese under the poached egg.. marvellous.

I was with you all the way up to 'cheese'

  • also bearnaise for that price https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B075P2B154

havent tried the knoll sauce but having tried the maille one , nothing beats home made hollandaise, easy if you have a fresh eggs, butter, lemon and vinegar, a blender, a microwave and 5 minutes of time. might just get one of these anyway just for when I'm lazy

  • Has anyone found a video of a Amateur cook actually using this sauce? All I could find were videos of "chefs" advertising the product.

just pour a bit on top of fried or poached eggs (we don't even heat the sauce, let the egg do that).. learning how to poach was my thing I needed - small pot of water, quite a bit of brown vinegar, get mixture to boiling then turn down to low simmer, swizel water around so a small vortex is in middle of pot - drop in egg and cook for 2 mins . don't spin water too fast or it pulls apart the egg. don't do it too slow or egg will sink to bottom of pot and stick. use a slotted spoon to remove the egg and drain any water stuck on it.

  • Excellent! Picked up a bunch of each, love this stuff! I spot it pretty often in restaurants, for me it's the best you can get without making it yourself.

This is the same stuff coffee club use. The bearnaise is the same as hogs breath too I'm pretty sure. Just wish these were in smaller packs.
