Looks like lowest price here.

Speeds look equivalent to ~$200 on-sale Samsung T7.

2TB price at $280.94 also looks like lowest. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08C3XVP2P?smid=A4XRJ8S0WXSO0&t…

Currently there's a Samsung T5 2TB with half the speed yet same price on OzB front page https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/633289

  • Lots of comments saying it gets too hot

    • I see the comment showing 41C (normal??) and someone saying "slows to snails pace" yet they continue using it. Not sure if I believe.

These kind of SSD will get hot, yes. The case is the heatsink. As long as it doesn't affect performance, and as long as it's not scalding you or causing fires, it's normal.

If it doesn't perform, a return via Amazon is pretty easy.

      • yeah I guess it’s subjective what “hot” is. If it’s ~40C then that seems fine. I ordered one anyway, can always return if performance is affected. Based on this review it seems like the crucial is faster than the T7.

  • I wonder if this can be used for PS5 to store games externally

    • I've seen comments saying that external SSD and particularly this one, can.

    • Absolutely, even the t5 is enough to store

      • literally any external storage is enough to store.

the issue is if the game can be played off the external drive that the numpties seem to be stumped by. reading the specs/requirements answers this question.

  • +1

    someone gotta do this…
    Is this shuckable?

  • does this disconnect and reconnect randomly on computer? happens to me on samsung t7

    • sounds like ur usb controller is under powered

      • ahh damm how do i fix that?

        • use less device.. on your usb.. EG, if there' 4 ports n u r using power hungry devices, it's going to kill one n the other
the work around is if u need all of them on usb..
your next best alternative is to get one of those usb hub with external power source n connect power hungry devices on them..
if that doesnt work, maybe the usb port is end of life :)

  • The price for a 1TB with those claimed speeds seems good, but there's not much enthusiasm in likes or comments here.

Is this a low quality company? By its looks, it's cheap.

No worse than most other manufacturers. Never had issues personally with their ram or ssds. In sure others have had issues though and will loudly tell anyone about them.
For actual reviews look at the drive that's inside not the portable product.

On another note lol, What makes a portable ssd look not cheap? A thin aluminium rectangular tube with plastic stoppers screwed on both ends (Samsung T series)?

      • Yeah, that was unnecessary comment on the looks.

Samsung's Ts speak more to me, they're tiny and simple, without bezels or shapes to bring attention. The one in this deal looks like a small 56k modem. But I get there are people who like RGB and shiny plastic aesthetics.

    • I dunno but this deal has 39 votes and it's for the Samsung T5 which is half the speed… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/633289

    • Think a lot of people are turned off by the poor Amazon review. Whether or not it's justified is another thing…

  • Missed this

    ……

hopefully something like this shows up during the black Friday sales

  • Can you load PS5 games off of this ?
