U2412M is back at $279 which was very popular last time:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59530

  • I recently bought an XPS14z with $400 cash off, if I'd have waited for this Sale I could have saved another $170!

    • +4

You forgot to mention in your comment that the StartHere founder-level members also get up to 7% cashback on top of the existing discount (provided Dell does not mess up with the tracking :)

      • Yep, could save another $85 on that model with cashback…

      • Hi Scotty ,
I am planning to buy one,
can you pls elaborate how to get this cashback ? and who are the StartHere founder-level members ?
        How can I qualify ?

Also if I buy another XPS 17 laptop from them do I get the moneyback co cashback on the total invoice amount ?

        • +1

          StartHere's cashback page for Dell.

          http://www.starthere.com.au/shopping/Dell-Small-Business/

However if you did not join StartHere when it was MoneyBackCo — you are not in the founder level which means you'll get lower cash back — between 3.5% and 5.25% depending on number of transactions you do each year.

Alternatively there's Buckscoop that currently does Dell cashback at 5%:

          http://www.buckscoop.com.au/cashback/dell-small-business

Note that these are ex-GST amount. For example if you do have StartHere founder level, you'll get $279 / 1.10 x 7% = $17.75 cashback.

      • I like my U2412M purchase but My cashback hasn't changed from "tracking" since 14-Dec-2011. how long do Dell normally keep customers waiting (after two months) ?

    • wow $400 cash off directly from dell site? how do u save another $170? I dont see xps14z is included in the deal this time

      • I was looking at the XPS14Z with SSD, Cash off $570 (30%). The cheaper versions don't seem to have the 30% off deal.

  • Got myself a U2412M last time it was $279 and I'm loving it. Would be very hard pressed to find a better 1920x1200 16:10 monitor with the same image quality for less money.

  • I have 3 U2412M's for xfire and they are superb. IPS IQ so much better than the cheap TN panels I used to buy.

    • Why do you need 3 monitors for xfire?!

      • +1

I'd assume he means Eyefinity (or nVidia equivalent).

        • +1

Think xfire stands for CrossFire AMD equivelent of Nvidia's SLI. Eg: dual graphic cards working together for higher performance in compatible games.

Hmm that price on the U2711 is pretty ordinary isn't it?? I'm sure it's been much cheaper

    • +1

Yes $630ish was the cheapest it went.

      • I would snap one if it went for this price again…

    • They jacked up the standard price of the u2711 from 799 to 899. I bought it for 799 with the EPP 15% off. Much better than this special.

They also jacked up the price of the U3011 by a hundred or two bucks.

I noticed it last week. Maybe in preparation for this sale?

  • My previously perfect U2412M broke my heart a couple of weeks ago when a very noticable dead pixel suddenly appeared, after two months use. First time that's happened to me. Haven't contacted Dell about it yet, so I can't yet report on how accomodating the warranty process is (from past experience, issues within the first week or two after purchase are handled very efficiently).

    • I believe you need a significant amount of deadpixels for Dell to take it under warranty.

      • +2

Not true. IIRC, the U2412M qualifies for Dell's premium panel warranty which is a zero dead pixel policy. Got both the U2412M and U2410, had the latter replaced after a dead pixel came up. It was quite good, door step replacement.

        • The policy I read is 1 bright subpixel gets you a replacement (aka "zero bright pixel" guarantee) but for dark subpixels the number is 6. The practice might be something else, as you found out.

My "dead pixel" is kind of ambiguous in how to define it - a macro photo showed 5 dull subpixels in a cluster with the edges of surrounding pixels marginally affected. It may even be debris. Unfortunately there's little ambiguous about its noticability (have to sit 2.5 metres back before the grey dot disappears).

      • Think it's about six dead pixels for these lower end ones before Dell accept a warranty claim.

Edit: My bad it's all US monitors not just the U3011s & U2711s

    • That's nothing!

I ordered one (U2412M) for work (paid for it myself, dead pixel out of the box).. Spoke to account manager (have since then had 2 other account managers and Dells customer service has gone from great to non-existant in that time), ordered another one ( as I needed two - also paid for it myself ) — defective pixel out of the box.. Two monitors, both with dead pixels — I've ranted about this in a prior ozbargain posting re this…

A 3rd monitor that work bought for itself had no dead pixels - and yes you need at least 6 dead pixels before they replace… Great quality monitor, probably worst pixel policy… My then account manager submitted a helpdesk request when the initial one arrived to find out about how to address the dead pixel, that was about 4 or 5 months ago, still no response..

      Not happy.

      • you get what you pay for.

        • So are you implying that the U2412M is not worth the price you pay for it?

      • .

  • The NRMA/RAC* discount does not stack with these deals in case anyone is wondering.

  • any laptops on sale???

  • i tried using the starthere.com.au discount doesnt work :(

    • I tried using starthere.com.au as well and now see the following in my starthere account after purchasing the U2412M:

$0.00 from Dell Small Business tracking on 14-Feb-2012

So it looks like it didn't work for me either..

      • … Bugger. Has anyone had any luck with starthere for this deal or is it definitely not working for everyone?

      • +1

Dell SMB always reports $0 first from experience. See Steve's response here.

  • The link doesn't work for me.

It says 3 day sale, this deal was posted on the 14th, its now the 15th..deal should still be on right?

    • +1

      Link works fine for me.

Got a call from Dell this morning saying that the UltraSharp U2412M I ordered yesterday should be delivered tomorrow morning :)

      • I take it your "Est. Payment" shows as "Apr-2012", which means you would expect payment by 30th of April?

My starthere transaction has gone past nine weeks with no response from Dell SMB. Although maybe this just the time it takes.

        Starthere advises,

don't wait much longer than 4 weeks before submitting an enquiry as some networks have a cut off of 8 weeks after a transaction.

        A little concerning anyway.

  • Link doesn't work for me, I get we're sorry the page no longer exists.
