I would never spend this much at banggood with their level of customer support. Risky buy

    • Agree. Real bad customer support if you have any issues

    • Worst case you could just do a charge back on your credit card..?

No way I would buy something like this from Banggood, it is a pretty good price though.

As cringe as it may sound, unfortunately FPV drones are illegal in Australia.

    • +3

      not quite…

The below is pasted from https://www.casa.gov.au/drones/rules/first-person-view

You can fly FPV indoors for sport or recreation provided the drone can’t get out of the building. You do not need CASA approval.

If you want to fly FPV outdoors, you must either:

be a member of a model aircraft association that has approval to fly FPV
apply for CASA approval to fly FPV recreationally
apply for CASA approval to fly extended visual line of sight (EVLOS) commercially

Model aircraft associations approved to fly FPV

The Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA) oversees the operation of model aircraft for its members, including FPV flying. Visit the MAAA website for more information on FPV flying.

      • Yeah i herd about this.. its a ducking joke!!

        • It wouldn't have come to this if not for the imbeciles flying drone in places where they shouldn't.

          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatwick_Airport_drone_incide…

          • @xoom: Ah yes the mysterious drone of Gatwick , Some say….
            From Wikipedia"
No videos or photographs of the drone were given to the police.[18][19] Chief Constable Giles York said the police believed the original sightings were of an unauthorised drone, but that later sightings may have been of a drone used by Sussex Police.[20] Gatwick Airport offered a £50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.[21] The investigation was closed on 27 September 2019, citing lack of new information.[4] No culprit or evidence of drone use was found, and the description of the drone, as of May 2021, is unknown.[4][6]"

Do you really want yahoos flying drones near airports? What's wrong with a bit of regulation?

      • +1

What if it's on your own property?

        • +1

It depends. My property is near the flight path of the hospital's rescue helicopter. We are talking about a few metres. So that's a no in my case.

If your property is farm land in the middle of no where far from say an airport. Sure why not.

          • @xoom: Yeah I know about the proximity to airports, etc, but with FPV Pred8r has said:

If you want to fly FPV outdoors, you must either:

be a member of a model aircraft association that has approval to fly FPV
apply for CASA approval to fly FPV recreationally
apply for CASA approval to fly extended visual line of sight (EVLOS) commercially

But what if I'm just flying it on my own bushland out in woop woop?

            • +1

@King Steuart: Blame the nitwits that forced the hand of the governing body to have such rules.

            • +1

              @King Steuart: IANAL but I'd;

-use one of the CASA recommended apps to see if you can legally fly there (example link below)

              https://ok2fly.com.au/?lat=-37.8781941733793&lon=144.9640348…

              -become a member of MAAA

-have someone next to you to maintain visual contact with the drone and be able to instruct you immediately about any potential hazards.

              Alternatively;

you do you. Just be prepared for any negative consequences i.e. confiscation of drone, fines, court, gaol etc

edit: Follow what CASA recommends and there shouldn't be an issue, anything else and its on you.

      Just send it.

  • Unless what they're gonna send you is the AU model of this combo (DJI has divided their poducts into different regional models although they're technically identical, just because of marketing and pricing strategy), I'd suggest avoid it. Otherwise you won't be able to claim any warranty from local DJI. And if you wanna buy DJI Care here to protect it, you'll find that DJI Care can only be binded to the products bought in the same region as the care. I know these because I learnt them the hard way.

Drones are not cheap. Spend your coins wisely. Happy flying!

    • exactly the concern i would have buying dji. you may not be able to get dji care in aus if bought outside of aus.
